Dan Pfeiffer: White House Expects John Boehner To Try For Impeachment

I think many of us predicted this back in 2010 when the GOP took over the House. It doesn't matter what nonsense they put in articles of impeachment, the REAL reason will be "Presidenting While Black":

Dan Pfeiffer: White House Expects John Boehner To Try For Impeachment

Posted: 07/25/2014 10:01 am EDT

WASHINGTON -- One of President Barack Obama’s top advisers said on Friday that he expects House Republicans will ultimately file articles of impeachment against the president.

Dan Pfeiffer, a senior aide who has been with the administration since Obama first took office, told reporters that he anticipated that a lawsuit filed by House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) over executive actions taken by the president over health care would ultimately not be enough to satisfy some of the more vocal conservatives in Congress.

"I think a lot of people in this town laugh that off," said Pfeiffer. "I would not discount that possibility. I think that Speaker Boehner by going down this path of this lawsuit has opened the door to Republicans possibly considering impeachment at some point in the future."

Speaking at the Christian Science Monitor breakfast, Pfeiffer based his prediction on several factors. The first was former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) calling for articles of impeachment to be drawn over the president’s executive action allowing certain young illegal immigrants to stay in the country. The second was a CNN poll released Friday morning showing that while just 33 percent of the country supported impeachment, a full 57 percent of Republicans supported doing so.

No matter how much FOX and Friends (CNN) try to spin it, the public will see right through it.

3. You Are Right About That But I Think There is A More Long Range Goal Here.......

The goal is to taint Obama's Presidency. Whether the American People now see through this might not matter - what will matter is years from now when reading about or discussing the Obama Presidency they will be able to say that the first black president was impeached. It won't matter whether the impeachment goes through to ultimately oust the President. What will matter is the sound bite/byte that the first black president was impeached.

Bill Clinton was impeached - but it didn't result in his removal from office. But the stigma of impeachment is attached to his presidency forever.

Nixon probably would have been impeached all the way through to him being ousted from the presidency if he didn't resign. When we read about Nixon now the sound bite/byte is that he resigned the Presidency - which if you don't know the details about Watergate. etc doesn't sound as bad as - Richard Nixon was impeached.

I didn't expect any less from the whining, lying, greedy pack of scumbags. It'll be circus, and nothing will get done (STILL).

REMEMBER: The overarching goal has always been to stop Obama, and that includes his legacy.

Dem presidents. I truly believe they were thrown by Obama's election. They were already getting ready to impeach Hillary and then she lost.

If they get a majority in the senate we may have the first successful impeachment and conviction (and the third purely partisan political impeachment) in the history of this country. It would bring us much closer to a regional fragmentation of the nation.

They need 2/3 of senate to remove obama. That would require democrats voting to remove obama. No way 10 to 12 Senate democrats
would vote to remove Obama.

All they need to do to ruin Barack Obama's Presidency is get an impeachment on the record. Perception is everything. All most people will remember in years and decades to come is that President Obama was impeached. All of his many, many accomplishments will be forgotten.

Perception is everything, like I said.

There's a reason W, Cheney, and the insane clown posse that started the Iraq War chose to call it "Operation Iraqi Freedom". It was to make the name an official part of American History. To guide the perceptions of Americans who don't perceive things very well. When the acute outrage over what a fiasco the Iraq War turned out to be (and most of we liberals predicted it would be) dies down, the title will remain in the history books: Operation Iraqi Freedom.

on the part of the demented right. The way those thugs operate is becoming crystal clear. When the next Dem president is elected the same thing will happen again. Impeachment will start looking like a silly prank constantly being pulled by Rethuglicans, and nothing to take seriously. Ugh, how I hate those people.

11. Pfeiffer knows Boehner doesn't want to touch impeachment with a 10 foot pole

But every time Boehner has to deny it, it makes him look like a fool to most of the country for it even being a possibility, and it simultaneously pisses off the right's impeachment dreamers. Really good politics from Pfeiffer.
