Sometimes, leaving your baby in the car is criminal...

saw on the local news that a nanny was arrested for leaving her charge in the car while shoplifting.

Searched for more info and found out this is not that uncommon...

ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis woman faces charges for leaving her child in a hot car to shoplift, according to court documents.

Aliscia Dean has been charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Dean and her boyfriend left her child in a car, which was more than 80 degrees hot, Monday for approximately 20 minutes with only the windows cracked in the 4100 block of North Grand.

Security caught the two shoplifting and police were called. Security also found the child, who had appeared to have thrown up.

The child was taken to Cardinal Glennon where the child might have suffered a heat stroke.

There is no word on whether the unidentified boyfriend will face similar charges.

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -
Two women questioned about leaving a baby alone in a hot car Wednesday are now facing shoplifting charges.

One of them is now charged with felony child abuse as well.

An alert woman found the baby in a hot car about 2:30 Wednesday afternoon.

Yesterday's high was 92 degrees.

A woman, we're identifying only as Jamie, took a photo of herself with the baby in case the people who left the baby in the car came back and tried to take him before police got there.

This is the local one I saw on the nooze:

HICKSVILLE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) – A nanny is accused of leaving a toddler alone in a hot minivan while she went on an illegal shopping spree inside a Long Island store.
The incident occurred around 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Broadway Mall in Hicksville.

Quite a few more showed up in the search, but that's enough for me for now.

From the top story
"There is no word on whether the unidentified boyfriend will face similar charges."

He closed his side of the coffin when he left the baby in the car. Unless he's a minor, he should face the same charges as the mother.

unlike so many of the "accidental" gun shootings of children by guns not being locked up.
