How All of Us Are Paying a Heavy Price for Corporate Greed

http://www.alternet.org/corporate-accountability-and-workplace/how-all-us-are-paying-heavy-price-corporate-greed

There’s a new epidemic spreading across America.

It’s an epidemic of corporations turning to a business model that helps them get the maximum amount of indirect support from the federal government - by having We the People - the taxpayers - subsidize their workforces.

Basically – they get rich – while the rest of us pay.

On October 1st – United Airlines – the third largest airline in North America – is reported to be planing to outsource 630 of its gate agent jobs at 12 airports to private companies.

outsource in country services? I mean, sooner or later at this rate, even the companies that are being outsourced to will themselves be outsourced or "privatized".

Are they just pushing to have everyone at their gate agents become subcontractors? What happens if no one bids on a job? What happens if the contract with the agent expires just as half the job is done.

This united states of america style of capitalism is not making much sense anymore. Anybody else notice that?

it just doesn't make any sense where they think they're going. I know the big corporations want a desperate labor force that they can basically pay nothing and offer nothing to, but even then ... ok, so you get that, then who is taking your flights? Eventually, who is even buying your crap at Wal-Mart?

The thing is, I don't think they really do think ahead. As with your example, they don't think about things like the way that having employees who are not invested will damage their "brand" or the complications that could arise. It's all RIGHT NOW, in the moment saving a few bucks. That's all that matters to them is the only way most of this makes sense.
