Glenn Greenwald, the Pulitzer Prize winning journalist who exposed United States and British global surveillance programs, is about to subject himself to a spectacle so crazy Hollywood would struggle to invent it - involving an obese German hacker / millionaire / electronica musician / pink-Cadillac and signed Mein-Kampf owning / aspiring politician named Kim Dotcom, who had his mansion raided several years ago by New Zealand's spy agency. Greenwald should do a little more research before accepting the invitation and booking his ticket.
The whole crazy saga is explained here: http://sheppardpost.com/greenwald/

(37,549 posts)Checkbook journalism. But maybe Glen wants to see Hobbiton.

(4,533 posts)And who says he's paying Greenwald a fee? Kim was the innocent victim of illegal surveillance and illegal seizure. He won in court.

Got too many poor people problems to concern myself with than be some champion for that disgusting creature.

(14,733 posts)Wasn't he the guy that ran some peer sharing site or somesuch, like the pirate bay place, that the movie and record crowd got ticked at?

(1,284 posts)He'll always have more money than I can dream about...
So even if he was done wrong... I just can't muster up enough fucks.
The fact some people treat him like a martyr is chronically humorous and acutely infuriating.

(14,733 posts)I don't know if he's along the lines of Elon Musk or David Koch.
So in my inability to give enough f...s, I'll also be unable to be acutely infuriated about anything to do with him

(101,149 posts)In one entry:
fat
morbidly-obese cyber-geek who seems to have modeled his appearance off the main character in Despicable Me
nerd
exhibits a weird and annoying mix of paranoia and narcissism
looking uncannily like the murderous Ice-skating character Sub-zero from the film The Running Man
and you're concerned about the quality of music he makes. Your obsession with the trivial looks silly.
You don't seem to actually have evidence this will be 'embarrassing' for Greenwald. You acknowledge that the New Zealand authorities did illegally spy on Dotcom; we know that they are also involved in global spying, as part of the 'Five Eyes' system. You are basically taking the NZ PM's side on this, once we strip the personal insults out of this.
Was it really necessary to flog your blog entry supporting a centre-right politician?

(56 posts)and there's a lot about Glenn Greenwald that I admire - he did some tremendous work - and if anything, I'm highlighting the disconnect between Greenwald's gravitas and the silly media event he's being invited to.

(1,643 posts)Seriously, Kim is a eccentric as hell, but WTF does this article do other than lob insults at the guy for being big and somewhat wealthy? Absurd commentary. Absolutely absurd.

Meh, another smear from the smear department. This one is centered around something that hasn't even happened, so I have to assume the shills are running low on material.

(21,786 posts)I am imagining a Dalek wearing a bowler hat and armed with an umbrella instead of a death-ray that says "APPEASE" instead of "EXTERMINATE", for some reason. (Or possibly arguments that NSA mass surveillance and flagrant violations of civil liberties are the key to securing "peace in our time".)

I assume you're talking about the megaupload guy, who got raided IIRC as part of a crackdown on intellectual property and copyright stuff. Arguably shady, but not exactly damning character evidence, particularly if the gist of it was that other people were using his site to share pirated justin beiber songs or some shit.
As for the "signed copy of mein kampf", it may be questionable and exceptionally bad taste from a collector's point of view, but unless he's espousing agreement with the content of the book, it's pretty fucking meaningless.
I'm no blind fan of Glenn Greenwald, but your OP is LAME.
