Michele Bachmann: Gays Want to Let Adults ‘Freely Prey on Children Sexually’

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), who will be retiring from Congress this year before making a possible second run at the presidency, said in an interview with conservative radio show Faith and Liberty this week that she believes the gay community wants to “do away with statutory rape laws so that adults will be able to freely prey on little children sexually.”

Bachmann said the gay rights movement’s main goal is to “not allow for a diversity of opinion” on the issue of whoever LGBT Americans should have the same rights as everyone else. “They don’t want to be celebrated,” she said. “They want to force everyone to not only agree with them, but also to finance their agenda.”

While she cited transgender rights as a current focus of the movement, Bachmann predicted that “multiples in marriage” would be next. From there, she jumped quickly to the notion that gay right groups want to “abolish age of consent laws, which means we will do away with statutory rape laws so that adults will be able to freely prey on little children sexually. That’s the deviance that we’re seeing embraced in our culture today.”

Bachmann has long been one of the most anti-gay members of Congress and during the Republican primary for the 2012 election was forced to defend a clinic run by her husband, Marcus Bachmann, that claimed to offer people a “cure” for homosexuality. Earlier this year, she accused the gay community of “bullying” the American people and “intimidating” politicians.

9. There is zero evidence of this but it is consistent with the right's attacks on LGBT rights...

No respectable and generally accepted LGBT organization supports changing statutory rape laws. There may be some churn to the extent that these laws apply unequally between opposite-gender and same-gender encounters.

The right has long proffered the idea that the LGBT community want to solicit their children. First of all, as LGBT persons, we know that you cannot solicit someone to be something than they are unless, of course, they are desperate. But as far as reaching out to str8 kids and soliciting them into an LGBT lifestyle defies credulity. They are not gay or transgendered. They are not going to want to have sex with a person of the same gender, period.

The LGBT community (save perhaps NAMBLA) recognizes the importance of protecting children. Many of us grew up and experienced taunting and even more. Some LGBT youths commit suicide. As a community we are especially sensitive to the needs of young people. They need to be protected.

But this is classic Bachmann. She is totally removed from reality and may not even realize her husband is a big queer (I can say that because I am a gay man). Her husband is the biggest "fag" I have seen in years. No wonder they have adopted so many children. I doubt their marriage has been consummated.

A kid can enter a baptism contract as a minor, but that minor may not consent to have sex with another kid the same approximate age? WTF?
