(10,650 posts)If not, then it was a Hamas rocket that did it. The IDF says so, so it must be true.

(75,480 posts)Gaza is in the way of Israel tapping into it? I can't put up links right now but there are stories about it on the UK Guardian. If this is so, it makes sense why Netanyahu wants to obliterate the Palestinians and why our oil oligarchy wants to support that.

This may be the first overt genocidal/structural systematic takeover of a corner of the globe, for profit, of the modern era. I fear that this is not just the future of Gaza but a possible new normal for any region that has resources that these metanational cartels want access to.
Fairly described as geopolitical profiteering manipulating world opinion. 'Five years ago, Israel invaded Gaza under Operation Cast Lead. In the wake of the invasion, Palestinian gas fields were de facto confiscated by Israel in derogation of international law.' I wonder if the EU views confiscation of Palestinian gas by Israel as a possibility to divest from Russian gas.The military occupation of Gaza is intent upon transferring the sovereignty of the gas fields to Israel in violation of international law.If this were to occur, the Gaza gas fields would be integrated into Israels offshore installations, which are contiguous to those of the Gaza Strip.
Here is an extremely precise article detailing the great lengths Israel has gone to in order to not only block Palestine from receiving any monetary reimbursement for the oil and gas, but to directly confiscate Palestinian gas fields in derogation of international law:

War and Natural Gas: The Israeli Invasion and Gazas Offshore Gas Fields
Michel Chossudovsky (CRG) : Five years ago, Israel invaded Gaza under Operation Cast Lead. The following article was first published by Global Research in January 2009 at the height of the Israeli bombing and invasion under Operation Cast Lead.

In the wake of the invasion, Palestinian gas fields were de facto confiscated by Israel in derogation of international law
A year following Operation Cast Lead, Tel Aviv announced the discovery of the Leviathan natural gas field in the Eastern Mediterranean off the coast of Israel.
levant-gas-map1-felicity_Israel_Palestine_Gaza_CRG_gas fields
At the time the gas field was:
the most prominent field ever found in the sub-explored area of the Levantine Basin, which covers about 83,000 square kilometres of the eastern Mediterranean region. (i)
What is now unfolding is the integration of these adjoining gas fields including those belonging to Palestine into the orbit of Israel. (see map to the left).
It should be noted that the entire Eastern Mediterranean coastline extending from Egypts Sinai to Syria constitutes an area encompassing large gas as well as oil reserves. Michel Chossudovsky, January 3, 2014.
War and Natural Gas: The Israeli Invasion and Gazas Offshore Gas Fields
Michel Chossudovsky (CRG) : The December 2008 military invasion of the Gaza Strip by Israeli Forces bears a direct relation to the control and ownership of strategic offshore gas reserves. This is a war of conquest. Discovered in 2000, there are extensive gas reserves off the Gaza coastline.
British Gas (BG Group) and its partner, the Athens based Consolidated Contractors International Company (CCC) owned by Lebanons Sabbagh and Koury families, were granted oil and gas exploration rights in a 25 year agreement signed in November 1999 with the Palestinian Authority.
The rights to the offshore gas field are respectively British Gas (60 percent); Consolidated Contractors (CCC) (30 percent); and the Investment Fund of the Palestinian Authority (10 percent). (Haaretz, October 21, 2007).

(58,342 posts)If they were united by peace, his radical right wing, George W. Bush modeled government would be more endangered of losing power.
He and ilk believe they need enemies and if they don't exist at least not in enough numbers, Netanyahu will do his best to create more.
Taking more Palestinian land, making life so miserable for them as to be unbearable, degrading their society by any means possible and creating more enemies are their prime directives.

(4,748 posts)doing what it was designed to do. We keep telling ourselves everything will be fine if we just sell some more arms to Israel along with a large dose of financial aid. Shameful and sickening.

(889 posts)I'm sure a picture (or a video) of the bombing of Peenemunde would look just as unsettling.
What was hit here? A rocket launch site? A retirement village?
As a disclaimer, I'm evidently one of the few people who have not taken sides (yet). IMHO, Hamas and Israel both have blood on their hands, and neither is an innocent.
But I'm not a fan of propaganda. Pictures and videos without varifiable details are propaganda.

(25,699 posts)A "rocket launch site" is literally like three guys with a tripod.
(Seen here drawing a horsie and a princess...)
A blast like that would have gotten them, the retirement village, and a few places in between. This pretty much obviates any claim of "pinpoint targeting" because, well, when you're throwing high explosives into a densely-populated urban area as a means of taking out one or two dudes...

(23,730 posts)Because I didn't pass one of your little checklist tests, I have somehow taken sides? Because I dared to ask a question about a picture, I have somehow taken sides?
Look, if you want to talk about how Israel has stolen Palestinian land on the West Bank, I'll back you 100%. If you want to talk about how wrong the "Greater Israel" proponents are, I'll back you 100%.
But if you think asking a question about a target is wrong, then I must both reject and ignore you.

(10,136 posts)more bombs hitting the same place?
Or are they secondary explosions that indicate a weapon cache was hit by the first bomb?
