Interesting "discussion" with a FB friend I love to hate.

I've blocked most people like him/her (can't tell...posts under both husband and wife's names) for similar bullshit. But this person is fascinating. Former old town beach friend, so tends to be liberal in many ways...but continually posts hateful, far-right Tea Bagger bullshit. For that reason alone, I keep him/her as a friend. We even PM frequently. We both have similar views on how to help out our struggling old home town. But then she shares Tea Party threads and Conservative America bullshit and hateful, racist crap and it makes my stomach turn. Lately he/she's been on an Israel kick. These are the last two posts in a much longer thread...

XXXXXX XXXXXX-XXXXXX OK, so you are an Obama fan , I also know there is more than Hamas and Israel in this. The word Christianity is / has become a general term lately for Religion, no matter the sect, except for Westboro .... I do believe in all fairness to each their own but when it comes to the violence / war , it must be stopped . No , one person, or religion should believe they are "the ones" .... No one belief has the right to eradicate another based on their belief . One would think and believe as far as man has evolved in all fields of science , medicine and such, that the mind and tolerance of living in a peaceful, respective world would also evolve. But one thing mankind has not evolved in is the basic greed and need to be supreme .... It is sad because so much good could come ..... Is it wrong that Israel / the Jewish faith wishes to be left alone as others want to be .... It was not that long ago of Hitler and the Holocaust , You know we fight forest fires with fire and water...............


(ATMAN) We all want to be left alone. Korea wanted to be left alone. Vietnam wanted to be left alone. Iraq wanted to be left alone. Afghanistan wanted to be left alone. The Palestinians want to be left alone. Atheists want to be left alone. Christians want to be left alone. Muslims want to be left alone. Buddhists don't care, because whatever is was meant to be. Anyway, of course, we all want to be left alone. But none of us ever leaves each other alone. Why? Because of Religion. In this country, it is the Christians (yes, I mean "Christians," not "religion in general&quot who want a) to be left alone and b) to tell everyone else how to live their lives...as Christians.

BTW, I'm not an Obama fan. But I will support any president who does good, and Obama, despite the Fox "News" tickers, has in every measure done good. From health care to Bin Laden to the lowest government spending in generations (seriously, look it up...don't rely on Hannity), things are decidedly better than they were the day he took office. This simply cannot be disputed. At least, not by any rational person with an understanding of facts.

Sorry for being so harsh. There are two sides to the Israel/Palestine story, and since Israel is our 51st or 52nd state (Puerto Rico might come in as 51st) we tend to back them on everything, even when they're wiping out schoolyards full of women and children whom they've imprisoned behind massive concrete walls. In the name of religion.
