How anyone keeps a dry eye during this, I do not know.

Thanks for continuing to remind us what's at stake here.

I thank you...

It took me by surprise...then it did not. Michael does not matter to some. When you can take a dump on this President, nothing else matters. Not justice just more hate.

I don't post much out of sheer frustration. I keep hoping and pushing for change. I pray Michael's murder will bring that change in, is it outlook, attitude? It just seems to get worse. And yes, it is always the president's fault for whatever bizarre reason.

For that young man who died way too soon and his family. I have a 17 YO son. Michael's death breaks my heart and the hate spewed since breaks my spirit.

calimary Thank you....

And stretch marks, crepey neck...ha we all can go on. Arthritis. Tinnitus...aging sometimes gracefully and sometimes not. However we...ya WE are fricking amazing. We are focused and animated and we women sure as hell know how to stick together. We are so incredibly awesome.

We are the mothers the teachers and such beautiful creatures. It is us and we will make the difference in this world. After all another woman wrote that poem and it is awesome.

We have each others backs and we damn well have the children's backs. To me, at his tender age Michael was still a child.

child. The baby of the family will ALWAYS be my baby, even when I'm 80-something and he's 40-something.

More than anything else I would assert, as a woman, and on behalf of all women, while savoring and relishing all the good things we are, there's one thing we definitely and absolutely are NOT:

WE ARE NOT PROPERTY.

that such should have to be written at all.
When I try to say as much to anyone, they just look at me as if I am overreacting!!! And that's disheartening, to think that his life, or the life of any child should mean so little!!

Speak, so eyes be gouged
and ears be deafened,
if wish to deny your mattering.

Is there a typo in there or am I just lousy at interpreting poetry?

This is just my interpretation...

However Michael was shot in the eye, it was gouged and he was blinded. And those who refuse to believe or understand that this was death by cop then their ears are indeed deafened because they are indeed deaf , dumb and blind.

This!

if wish to deny your mattering.

Does Michael matter? Yes he does .
