Hmmm, judging by how much they had to gerrymander Louisiana, it looks as though maybe it is not as much of a red state as I assumed, even after they tried to re-locate NOLA's Katrina/Rita survivors to a nice safely red district in Texas and other places. Southern tip of Texas, too.

Its boundaries aren't as outrageous as that block of black just to the west. But they tweaked it just enough in the last redistricting to turn what has been a swing district more Republican. Sometimes gerrymandering is subtle enough to fly under the radar.
