The Lies of Wayne LaPierre

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by Violet_Crumble (a host of the General Discussion forum).

Every time I write about this country's strange infatuation with its shootin' 'arns, I get at least one response from someone claiming to represent the thousands/millions of "responsible gun-owners" who never would think, say, of popping some black kid for the crime of carrying snack food in a neighborhood where your fears tell you the kid doesn't belong. Okay, fine. I even buy that. But when are the "responsible gun-owners" in the NRA going rise up as one and point out that the public face of their national organization is a lunatic?

Snip

This is a great big old plate of paranoid crackers, bananas, and nuts. There is no case in which either Justice Sotomayor or Justice Kagan can rule. The UN is not coming for your guns, either. Whatever its original intent, wasn't the whole problem with Fast And Furious that too many people got guns? Shouldn't the NRA be celebrating the free market implications of that? And executive orders? What? No FEMA camps?

four years ago the NRA bigwigs screamed at the top of their lungs that Obama was going to personally show up on everyone's doorstep and confiscate all guns and ammo...In Va., local newspapers had front-page stories about people buying everything they could now, BEFORE the ban came crashing down...

They can't ever get exposed as the idiots they are, so they keep the fear of gun grabbing alive at any costs...

Think of the logistics of trying to "come for our guns". Just how would the government be able to confiscate 250 million weapons.
250 million!!

His bloviating about 2nd amendmnt and his resounding silence when senseless murder is committed. and when steps are taken to try to make it difficult for nutjobs like Zimmernuts from purchasing firearms, the NRA screams Obama is coming for your guns!!!

Useless money-making propaganda organization.

but, you have to remember that all of the far right fringe groups believe the lies that come from their "leaders". As some wise person once said, "you'll never go broke betting on the stupidity of the American people"

And I think Mr LaPierre is a paranoid lying douchebag.

I also think he should change his name. "Wayne LaPierre"? C'mon, a macho organization like the NRA needs a spokesman named "Duke Rockwood" or "Spike Armstrong".
