First they came...

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

- Martin Niemöller 1892-1984

I salute you for posting this Visitor, but unfortunately online petitions mean very little. It is too easy to "fake" such petitions, and so they are usually ignored by those in power.

But here's what packs a punch: a personalized letter, email, or phone call to one of your elected officials. That will get some attention, because votes matter. Elected official keep track of such contacts, and they will take action if there is enough noise.

So people, contact your local elected officials, from mayor on up. Tell them to end police brutality!
