Hillary Hanging Loose at the Havana

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton yesterday went dancing after midnight at Cafe Havana, a Cartagena bar known for its Cuban music, after a day of diplomacy at the Summit of the Americas.

Accompanied by security agents, Clinton had a drink at the salsa bar and then danced with a posse of her female aides, relaxing after a day at the side of US President Barack Obama at the roughly 30-nation summit . . .

“She looked like she was having a great time,” said a person who saw Clinton at the bar and spoke on condition of anonymity.

A US State Department official, who also spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed Clinton went dancing at the bar. Asked if she had fun, the official replied: “A lot.”

I will never forget the video in which she was rude to a very nice group of Code Pink women.

Hillary is only fun if she is getting her way and everyone is agreeing with her preconceived ideas. That's my impression of her.

She needs to apologize to the women of Code Pink. I wasn't one of them, and there are probably many like me who were offended by her stubborn defense of the Iraq War in speaking to women who had visited Iraq and knew the truth better than Hillary did.

Since I and many others would not be included in a private apology, I hope that Hillary will apologize publicly - about having been wrong on Iraq and about having been rude to the Code Pink women who were trying to warn her that she was making a mistake and also to people like me who have seen the ugly side of Hillary Clinton.

Some Code Pink women "visited Iraq" and because of that "visit" that made them experts on Iraq and more knowledgeable on Iraq than SOS Hillary Clinton? They "knew the truth better than Hillary did"? Really?

They "tried to warn her that she was making a mistake" and she was rude to them so she owes them an apology. And she owes you an apology since you've seen the ugly side of Hillary Clinton? That about sum it up?

First, I admire Code Pink immensely. Second, any group like that takes its chances when speaking to a powerful person with the full weight of an entire department behind them which does massive amounts of research on a daily basis and has up-to-the second information at its fingertips. Third, Hillary wasn't new at this, even back then, whenever it was. She's been in this a long, long time. Her "preconceived ideas" came from years of immersion in the affairs of this country, as the First Lady, as a Senator and now as SoS.

If Code Pink went in with the attitude that she was "new" at the game and that they knew better, having decided to form a group and having visited Iraq once, then they just "might" have offended the Secretary of State of the United States right from the get go. Just a hunch.

As we now know, the "evidence" about WMDs and terrorism in Iraq was a lot of lies. Code Pink and millions of demonstrators all around the world plus the United Nations Inspection team knew it was lies. Hillary didn't. I wonder what the "evidence" was that Hillary based her false beliefs upon. Kucinich didn't believe that evidence. Neither did some other very intelligent truly liberal or progressive leaders in and out of Congress.

Hillary is a shill for the rich, the powerful and the status quo. That is pretty much who and what she is. I used to admire her a lot.

It's like one day you wake up and you notice that something you always liked tastes bitter. Hillary just has not moved along with reality. She tends to agree with whatever will give her the greatest political advantage. And, yes, I think that is a moral flaw.

When was the last time that Hillary really stood up for someone or something that was devastatingly unpopular among her rich and famous friends?

No, thank you. I do not want to see Hillary Clinton as Vice President. I just don't trust her.

She is close enough in line for the top job already. I want someone whose ego is satisfied with the job of Vice President, and I think that Hillary's ego is much too big for that.

Also, Hillary and Bill Clinton made a lot of mistakes while Bill Clinton was president. She talks like a liberal but has too many conservative ideas and friends for me.

So that is what it has to do with the publicity about her so-called "partying." That's all it is -- public relations intended to make Hillary look more "human," more down-to-earth. Public relations campaigns like that are for people who are running for office, not for those planning to retire soon.

I have a problem with some of this. I am all for her having a good time and singing and dancing. But the photo's of her drinking alcohol at the bar in a very 'fraternity like" college like atmosphere should be beneath her. I don't have to go over the tragic numbers associated with drinking, especially among young people. In my view, such displays from someone as important as Clinton should not be celebrated.

I view Hillary Clinton as the top role model for girls (and everyone) in the country if not the world. I don't think that someone that important should be "beefing up their rep" by chugging drinks at some bar.

BTW... I didn't like this first time Hillary did something similar during the Democratic primary. Drinking is not cool.

You don't know how much she drank, you don't know what the atmosphere was actually like and her "display" consists of dancing with some friends and laughing and taking photos. Most presidents and in fact I'd venture that the majority of politicians have had their photos taken with a beer or a glass of wine. You see it all the time at dinners and on daises. You cleverly try to manipulate opinion with loaded terms like "chugging" and "fraternity" (like a guy, eh?) but your objection is unfair to her.

And for the record, I think she rocks and I PRAY she runs in 2016.

I think all that you're implying about Mrs. Clinton's outing is sleazy. Fortunately, very, very few here are buying it. Most of us have family members who have taken some time to relax at a bar with a beer after hours (possibly dancing a bit with their women friends), so it's not such a shock to see the Secretary letting loose. Before you repeat that nonsense about her position, I think you'd better consider that you'll be insulting the family members above I mentioned above who I love and respect greatly by attempting to differentiate between them and their responsibility to maintain an 'image'. In no way is their reputation compromised one bit by drinking a beer at a bar and dancing. I daresay, there are very few women who I'd even venture to judge under those terms. At any rate, you are really insulting many, many women (and the folks who love them) with your ridiculous insinuations. You haven't got a thing on Mrs. Clinton. You're revealing more of a negative impression of your own character in these posts of yours than you could ever manage to label Hillary Clinton with. I think you're just *being despicable.

What she was engaging in was good clean fun. If she was my wife (or any kin to me) and you insulted her character like you have because she drank a beer and danced with her women associates after a workday, we'd have more than just words between us.

by "no one gives a shit" I mean, no one has a problem with it even those that are expressing a problem with it(for political purposes). I did see the comment up-thread about what it says to the kids and I see that as a legitimate expression so I'm just saying it based on political purposes.

You're right, Jon . . . no one gives a shit if Hillary has a beer and dances with friends!

As for the kids, well, they'll survive this. We all catch our elders in some funny and undisciplined moments. They should understand that, occasionally, some adults go dancing with friends at a nightclub, and, occasionally, drink a beer.

and to add my comment is basically along the lines, "Good for her" that make up the vast majority of the comments IOW as I was saying, almost everyone doesn't have a problem with Hillary doing what she was photographed doing.

and laugh and dance, it is Sec. Clinton. She is without a doubt one our hardest working Secretaries of Sate ever. And she will make a great president in 2016 if she decides to run, and I hope she will.

Moreover, Henry Kissinger is one of the most reviled and polarizing men ever to have served in Washington--a very low bar indeed.

It would be similar to defending a liar by saying, "He's at least as honest as Colin Powell!"

at parties. Unless you know something I don't. Are you aware that Nixon went on the comedy show Laugh In and said "sock it to me" while he was president? I'll bet none of that Watergate stuff would have mattered if he wouldn't have done that.

I'm having a hard time trying to figure out what she's done that's so offensive to you. I can only imagine the worst kind of male chauvinism one has to embrace to make those conclusions . . .

Being sweating and playing hoops? No gravitas! Or run around in swim trunks, drink a beer, slow jam on Jimmy Fallon, or do anything else that normal people might enjoy. WHERE IS THE GRAVITAS????????

And, how is SOS Clinton having a drink or two with aides the same as Secret Service agents hiring (and not paying) call girls while they were on duty protecting POTUS and others?

I admire and support both President Obama and SOS Clinton.
