Even on DU, everything is always Obama's fault

We accept the other side's irrational constructs even when we argue against them.

Turnout was white, male, and old, because it always is in off years.

People are conservative because of brain wiring. That much is proven all the time.

So, you can blame Obama for the low dem turnout, but honestly, most people just aren't tuned in to politics. I believe Bush was such an historical idiot, it motivated people to turnout. There was nothing pulling people to the polls this time. Period.

I think it boils down to, "They're all crooks. I'm staying home." It's a protest non-vote for both sides.

More dem cheer-leading wouldn't have changed anything.

He's just one man. The rest is up to us, and most people can't be bothered. They'll miss an email, or an episode of Big Brother.

We get the government we deserve.

Is this a proven thing?

26. A voting booth with hand sanitizer will consistently have more conservative votes cast

than the voting booth next to it without hand sanitizer. Even if voters don't get to choose which booth they go to.

That's pretty much got to be brain wiring.

14. And it's usually

The same bunch of bashers. There are a few "ring leaders" who encourage it, and the same bunch the always jump in on any thread that bashes the president, or the whole party, although I do see a whole new crop of bashers showing up lately.

8. I just wish he was a fighter. I thought he was when he 1st ran for office

but, time after time, he lets the rethugs speak so disrespectfully about him and he just ignores them and still longs for bipartisanship. I just don't think that's the way a normal person would react.

9. They've been bating him from the beginning, to bring out the angry black man

If he took the bait and yelled and screamed and played as dirty as they do, they'd just portray him as that angry black man you can't trust.

He's fought when he thought it mattered, and bargained when he had to. That's his job.

There's already enough kindergarten behavior in D.C. More wouldn't help. Acting like a petulant George Bush would not work and would not help.

13. Who cares what they say?

I am of the opinion that Obama should have got mad and creatively smashed the republicans.

I miss the Obama of 2008, so do most of the non-voters.

Anyway, I see you playing right into "It's all about Obama" when the truth is the party sucks. Even here on DU we see people whining and those trolls are not ever going to influence the party to speak more Liberally and fight back against the dirty right-wingers.

So, how, exactly was the POTUS supposed to smash anyone?

Here in the land of reality, one man can only do what his job allows.

21. Uh, yeah, it sucks

We just blew an election because the party sucks.

As for Obama - one example- his opponents openly described that they had one goal: One term.

He should have laughed in their faces for that display of wanton destruction of what the people voted for.

Next question.

37. If it is, I'm not sitting at the table with him.

I was so popular in the 7th grade, that the other boys wanted to sit at the table I was sitting at to eat my lunch!!
Of course, that all changed by the 9th grade after they found out that I was the son of Democrats.

Yet, back here on Earth, you are right, one man can only do so much.
But, some of these people, well, to be honest, a lot of them, think that Obama has a wand that he can simply wave and everything will go their way.

It's mind-boggling.

Seriously, who gives a shit that they'd call him an "angry black man"? Dems need to stop worrying what Republicans think. Politics IS dirty, and Dems need to start playing that game again.

And no one expected him to yell and scream or act petulant, why in the world would you suggest that?

15. I also thought he'd be more of a hell-raiser.

I don't blame him for the way things are in Washington right now. Ultimately, it's the American people and our fucked-up media who are responsible for this mess. I think Obama's been too passive through all of it, but I'm not so sure how much things would have changed if his personality had been more confrontational. The media would have painted him as a lunatic and the Fox zombies would have sucked it all up and repeated it over and over again.

We've got a very sick country on our hands, and Obama seems like the cautious doctor who is afraid of doing harm to his patient. He's kept our vital signs more or less stable, but he's afraid we'll die if he removes the cancer that's growing within us. Besides, he can't do it by himself. He must have assistants to help him in such a serious operation. I have no idea what our prognosis is. I think the shit is really going to hit the fan in the next couple of years leading up to the election. The pressure has been building for too long now. Something has got to give.

32. I would admit that he totally fooled me....

I thought he would start kicking Republican ass immediately. Calling them out for what they were. Walking through the halls of Congress talking the Democrats That didn't want to vote for him on bills and convince them they should. I really thought he would bring change to Washington and he didn't. I feel a little stupid now for falling for the whole plan. He was way too cooperative with Republicans and trying to work with them even after they were ridiculing him.

That's just egregiously stupid.. and to quote geek tragedy here because he says it so well..

"Idiotic ODS drivel. No, Obama did not want those whose only goal is to derail his presidency

to control both houses of Congress.

He did not want Mitch McConnell having absolute power over each and every appointment of federal judges.

He does not want more votes on repealing the ACA.

He does not want Senate hearings on Benghazi."

And, Yay.. we don't have to deal with that in the BOG!

Yeah, Obama isn't perfect by a long shot but I'm glad he's the President and I have his back.. especially from all the bullshite flyin' around here.

It's not his fault the corporate dems gave people nothing to vote for. It's not his fault that republicans suppressed the vote.
I voted, and I will never condone sitting out an election but a lot of people felt abandoned by the dems.
