Just a moment of remembrance for the democrats who ran and lost

they begged people for money
they may have not been the most experienced politicians and were not perfect in every thing they said, They put their lives on hold to run for office, put hours of unpaid work in (as did their friends and family), they lived good lives that were torn apart with insidious insults flung out by their opponents and he secret whisper campaigns that are impossible to fight against. And they lost.

Then they get to be torn apart by fellow democrats telling them about all their mistakes and seeing their imperfection as character flaws and jumping to conclusions blaming them for things they did not do but others accused them of doing. Then the next election people will wonder why you can't get good candidates. They were out there and they lost because of all the money they had to fight against. Some times even at the school board level, you would be surprised at the money spent against them.

The only way to survive in the future, is not to be so quickly to tear our own candidates down, and live in a country where people care enough to vote and realize there will never be a perfect candidate for them,

Not just democrats or republicans, but every person in their constituency. It's an extreme and tiring balance because some people can be quite difficult.

I was one of those Democrats many years ago. I ran for US Congress at the age of 31. I was the third youngest person in the nation that year to run for US Congress. I was told that I was I naïve and too young. The professionals predicted that I would get 6% of the vote. I got 42%. It was a race to force our Congress critter to stop voting for funding the SOA at Ft. Benning. I lost the race, but 3 weeks after ther election there was a vote on SOA funding and our Rep. didn't vote for it and never did again. I also had a yard sign case that went to the Supreme Court and then handed down to the State Supreme Court which I won 9-0. But after all that I was told, that I was dumb to run, I hadn't put in my time and being an immigrant there was an initial distrust of me at first. So I appreciate your kind words to my contemporaries who have run the race and came in second or third or fourth.

I guess your comfort should be knowing you had an effect on the congress person. good luck in the future.
