Obama may announce immigration reforms as soon as next week
Thu Nov 13, 2014 at 09:48 AM PST.
One key piece of the order, officials said, will allow many parents of children who are American citizens or legal residents to obtain legal work documents and no longer worry about being discovered, separated from their families and sent away.

(13,184 posts)The Republicans in Congress have blocked comprehensive immigration reform all the way through Obama's presidency.
They, and too many Democrats, blocked it when Bush tried to get it passed, too.
If Congress refuses to act, which it has, it's up to Obama to do what he can.

(83,746 posts)For all the crap that is sent his way, he never falters or fails. Naysayers can kiss my ass. Best President ever!
They have denied him support, they have obstructed all that he has tried to achieve, he has been blatantly disrespected. The simplest of things, they don't care about anymore because this President supports it. Remember VAWA? It always passed before, yet the fricking GOP was against it, because Obama Biden supported it. My god, we had to fight for the right not to be abused. WTF. My tolerance level for stupidity is low right now.
Yes, they were for immigration reform before they were against it under this President. May they all rot in hell Cha.
This President is having to do it all on his own. You know what is sad? He is completely disrespected on Democratic Underground as well. I have been spending less time here. The vilification of this President from the left is a sad reminder of why we as a party seem to fail.
Tired and angry Cha. Gotta go~

...For some reason, Betsy Rothstein at The Daily Caller happened to type bigotry into Google. She was not happy with what came back:
Read the sample sentence. Uh-huh. Thats what did it, thats what is making conservative heads explode tonight. But, as is their wont, they are taking it out on the messenger, blaming Google. But Google is just using a sample from the Oxford Dictionaries. You can see exactly the same sample sentence at the Oxford Dictionaries website.
Its interesting, though, that typing just bigotry doesnt bring that page up. Go ahead and try it. You have to add definition as I did in the image to get the same result as The Daily Caller did. It just makes me wonder if someone was fishing for something to be up in arms about...
Another school of thought is that bigot goes back to a name of a Visigoth tribe in Gaul. This is also doubtful, on phonetic grounds. The only plausible theory left is that the word may be based on the Spanish word for mustache, bigote. In the end, we just dont know for sure. But, in the sense in which we now know it, bigot came into use to describe a religious hypocrite in the 16th century. It evolved to include any kind of hypocrisy or sanctimoniousness...

(53,661 posts)His method is to poison the channels of public information. With a fascist the problem is never how best to present the truth to the public but how best to use the news to deceive the public into giving the fascist and his group more money or more power...
They claim to be super-patriots, but they would destroy every liberty guaranteed by the Constitution. They demand free enterprise, but are the spokesmen for monopoly and vested interest.
Their final objective, toward which all their deceit is directed, is to capture political power so that, using the power of the state and the power of the market simultaneously, they may keep the common man in eternal subjection.
~ U.S. Vice President Henry A. Wallace, quoted in the New York Times, April 9, 1944

(3,891 posts)I only ask because while exit polling shows 57% support for congressional action on immigration reform there is only one poll that addresses executive action on it. http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/04/politics/midterm-exit-polls-1/index.html
The one poll that asks the question shows only 20% support for executive action on immigration.
http://pollingcompany.com/poll-vault/new-post-election-survey-findings-on-immigration/attachment/2014-post-election-immigration-analysis-final-11-6-2014-6/
80% oppose the idea of executive action. What that means is several things. First people will blame President Obama and the Democrats for it. Second it will increase public support for Republican counter actions including but not limited to their already stated plans of eliminating or reducing funding for green cards.
So we lose credibility on the issue in the minds of the public. We almost certainly lose the White House in 2016. We give cover to draconian policies of the republicans which not only erase the gains but put true inclusion out of reach for at least a decade. And we turn a fair majority public support for immigration reform into overwhelming opposition.
How do you think you're going to like President Rand Paul in 2017?
