America cut our uninsured rate by 26% last year, and Republicans won't rest till they get the bastards behind that.

HealthCare.Gov has relaunched and these tweets show its working
The eight or so hours that Obamacare's open enrollment has existed so far this year, something stands out to me: Healthcare.gov seems to be working.

(4,309 posts)Finally, we have a Preident who acted on it.
I'm signed up and it isn't any worse (probably better) than what I had befiore.
Single payer would better, in my opinion, but Obamacare works fine for me!
Cha
(296,848 posts)foundation for that.. maybe that's what the repubs are so scared of? That and they, foolishly for them.. named it "Obamacare"!
I liked your sig line so much.. now I'm incorporating it into mine.. Mahalo!
Kath1
(4,309 posts)I love my sig line. too! That is a REAL compliment to me that you like it.
I look at Obamacare (good) as stepping stone to single payer (even better). I think Mr. President feels the same way.
PEACE! And as you say, MAHALO, sister!

(23,156 posts)Oh, the humanity!
I expect I don't need the sarcasm thingy.
And while it is true that for some rates are going up, and that others are VERY unhappy that they can no longer have a totally crap insurance that covers nothing, this is a decent start.
I sincerely hope that we are on the path to a real first world health care system.
As someone who only recently went on Medicare, I can see that we need to start with Medicare For All. I am in awe of how good Medicare is, at least for me. I signed up for an Advantage Plan (there are many options, and your choice may well be different from mine) and I have zero co-pay for a regular doctor visit, including whatever tests they want to run. Wow. Even though much of my life I've had decent health insurance, I've also been amazingly healthy and have generally avoided doctors as best I can. I need to deal with my high blood pressure and other relatively trivial issues, and it is so nice to go to a doctor and have zero co-pay. The most recent time I had a doctor visit, just a few weeks ago, while I was waiting to be called into the examining room, I listened to other patients checking in. $25 copay, or $30 copay. Now, I can afford those amounts if I must, but it is so nice to have a zero copay. Which is what it should be for all of us for such routine visits. And probably even for all the non routine visits.

nothing, this is a decent start."That is a very Important point, Sheila.
Glad Medicare is working so well for you and that you have Zero Co-pays!
Here's to Medicare for All/Single Payer in our Future!
Kath1
(4,309 posts)I'll raise my glass to that!
Should have been done a long time ago!

(12,769 posts)And, I am smart enough to realize that we all benefit from everyone having access to healthcare.
You would think the Ebola crisis hitting home would be enough, for even those without historic knowledge of epidemics, to start supporting some form of government sponsored health care for all.
Cha
(296,848 posts)why "23,000 signed up in the first 8 hours"!?
I don't have O-Care either.. I have Health Insurance through Quest in Hawaii but I want everyone to have affordable health care.. depending on their income. So Many should qualify for no co-pay at all!

(12,769 posts)In fact, i would extend that right to animals too.
I would prefer it be covered by tax dollars and free for all but the ACA is the next best thing.

(45,319 posts)to make Amerians take notice. But it was not. For what it's worth, my first protest outside an Insurance Company was circa 1985, demonstrating against benefits and treatments being denied to people with AIDS and calling for Universal Health Care.
What actually happened at that time was nothing. Reagan and his Republican Party watched more than 20,000 Americans die without saying so much as a word about it.
Thus far, AIDS has killed about 36 million people and is still the leading cause of death in Africa, Ebola is not even in the top 5.
At least with Ebola we had a President with the sense to take action early in Africa and at home. People freaked out about one death and two sick nurses. 20,000 dead and there was apathy.
Perspective.
