USPS- Incredible service match that fedex and UPS

I bought an item off of ebay and had it accidentally shipped to the wrong address. I freaked out and called USPS. They guided me to "intercept a package". This was a priority mail item and had tracking. I followed the package to Denver where i actually called the post office. The women at the post office answered the phone BEFORE business hours. She asked me where the package was going and my name.

She then went down to th driver and the package had not come upstairs yet. When it did the route person walked it upstairs and gave it to the supervisor whom then CALLED me took my address and the rerouted the package to me. Instead of getting it in 2 days i will get it in 4 days.

I probably could have let the system reroute it to me but i called and look what they did.

UPS and Fedex ground who have taken 5 days to get the package to me originally. God knows how long it woulld have taken it to finally get it to me and how much they would have charged.

You are right republicans Government can never do anything right. sarcasm

BRAVO USPS.

Cost too much to run lines in the country.

Its how the country got electrified. The farm my dad grew up on didn't get electricity until 1941.

Same principle here.

I need to remind my electric coop about that.
I went to there website the other day and they have a message on the first page to call/write congresspeople to stop EPA regulations.

An online company I regularly order from always used FedEx and I got packages in 2-3 days. Right to my door. Now this company is using Smart Post on my last few orders and it is taking an extra 3-4 days to get delivered. Must be saving them money to do it this way. But, it sure is a lot slower! I'm in a tiny rural town and FedEx and UPS always deliver here. Got nothing against USPS. Just need my orders quicker because I can't get out to a store. This Smart Post thing is really slowing things down.

One of my teams is the freight control group - which includes shipments that leave DCs that the Fraud Organization missed. Fed Ex we can call the drivers and get the package sent back. USPS has been a problem because we haven't had that ability. And truthfully - I'd rather give my shipments to USPS. Fed Ex drivers have sticky fingers and have been involved in too many mass fraud thefts.

Sat Nov 22, 2014, 08:56 AM
Nov 2014

USPS is the public, not private, delivery service, and recently started recovering my wandering package before I realized it was late. I use USPS to try to keep them in some income in this era of electronic messaging, and because they're cheaper for two-day shipping. I tracked my package on their site and found it had acquired the wrong zip code at some point, and called USPS. My local office assured me that I didn't need to do anything more about it, as the package would be delivered soon. It was, by a cheerful postman who apologized for the inconvenience.

Our local post offices seem to be staffed by overworked, very competent people who really do deliver through rain, sleet, and snow.

We should be glad we have the USPS, and give them as much business as we can.

In addition, Obama spoke disparagingly of it during his first term, when he said something like, you wouldn't want government in charge of health care because it might be like the post office--and he laughed.

Of course, having government provide health care (as opposed to health insurance) was never at issue and Medicare would have been a much more apt analogy for government health insurance than the Post Office, but that's all beside the point.

Point is, I don't have any evidence that he is strongly motivated to save the Post Office, do you?

I may not be charge of the Democratic Party. However, I am a registered voter in the Denver County for the Democratic Party since 1994.

But, my voice and my vote still counts, and I have experienced Ms. Clinton and read, studied about her, and formed my opinion based on her history of voting, opinions, alliances, and everything else.

Ms. Clinton will not be the only Democratic primary candidate, as there will be many throwing in their hats. I will also study their politics, beliefs, records, and alliances. y

Bernie Sanders is a fascinating person, and if he does change his alliance to the Democratic Party and run for President, I plan to do everything in my effort to see that he is made his platform heard and challenged from everywhere. The 2016 platform for the Democratic Party has not been built, but one thing for sure - it will not be from any input from the New Democrats/Third Way/DLC people who have ruined the Party for the last 20 years.

Because I am a Democratic Socialist, just like Senator Sanders, and I support the DSA's policies, ideals, and principles.

Good luck Ms. VanillaRhapsody on trying to convince anyone that Secretary Clinton will be President in 2016.

I, for sure, am not convinced that she should be president. At best, she should just focus on her health and family, and that is my honest opinion. You are free to disagree, of course, but there is nothing that can convince me that says otherwise. She simply isn't it.

My vote is mine, and it's not going to go to Secretary Clinton if she decides to run in the primary. She'll get thumped in the debates very easily, and is not going to convince anybody that she will go left of what her true beliefs are.

It tells me that you dismiss everyone who is not for Ms. Clinton (which most of DU'ers are)

You are into a very tiny minority, and the fact that Ms. Clinton hasn't announced yet....

If Ms Clinton wanted to be President, she should have announced the day after the elections.

But instead, she's holding an annoucement in January.

Suppose she announces that she is NOT running for President and will not accept any drafts to enter her name on that hat.

Then what?

buy online only from retailers who will ship USPS. They are so fast and so efficient. FedEx is horrible. They have provided many business with their own software for entering addresses and it has automatic defaults for the zip code fields. I don't have home delivery, I have a p.o. box. Their software won't take a p.o. box. So I say, okay, I'll add my p.o. box as my 4 digit supplement (0006) to my zip code. When the post office gets my package they know it's for box 6. But no, the software defaults to the actual physical road zip assigned to that p.o. box.

If the p.o. receives a package for me without my p.o. box or 0006 in the zip, they are supposed to charge me $5 to look up the correct box. Since it's a very small town, they usually just put it in my box but they remind me to get the company to get my address right or they will have to charge me. Some companies can go in and physically change the zip code in their address field and then I use my street address with my 0006. Some cannot. It is set up by the shipper and cannot be changed.

Not only that but FedEx uses hubs so everything goes through hubs. So a package may go from Ohio to somewhere in the South to somewhere in the Nebraska or Kansas to Kent, Washington and gets sent to the post office and delivered by the post office. Instead of 2-3 days, it can be 10-14 days.

So now, I contact companies and voice my displeasure with FedEx and sometimes, if they are snippy, I just stop buying from them and find another company that uses the post office.

I can't believe Congress wants to destroy a really good service in favor of a horrible one.

Packages barely holding together, I had one arrive with cardboard taped around it (it was from Best Buy so I know it didn't ship like that). Sometimes I'll even get an empty box. To hell with FedEx.

I cannot tell you how many times FedEx and UPS left packages at a different address--similar to ours--
before the town changed the number on our address when we rebuilt after the fire. The postal carrier
knows our name and address, and has frequently delivered mail to us that had the wrong address
due to our many relocations after the fire.

Not only that, but when the NC county Board of Elections sent our son's absentee ballot to
a misspelled street address out of state, the local PO out of state figured it out and delivered it to him.
