Because I saw an OP here a few days ago saying how white people in the area were getting ready to "go to war" by buying a bunch of guns. I can't find that OP anymore

(146,190 posts)At least that I know of. Gun sales don't necessarily mean that people will be shot. There's lots of tough talk going on by racist white guys right now. They're all at home watching television, though.

(23,946 posts)And she was not a protestor, unless I read that wrong. Stupidity strikes again, fatally in the presence of a deadly weapon:
The female victim, identified in a police report as Becca Campbell, 26, was a passenger in a car involved in an auto accident. Her 33-year-old boyfriend was driving, the sources told CNN.
The boyfriend, who wasn't identified, told police that the couple had bought a gun because of fears of unrest related to the pending grand jury decision on the shooting of Michael Brown, the sources said.
He told investigators that as they drove late Friday night, the victim waved a gun, jokingly saying the couple were ready for Ferguson, the sources said.
He ducked to get out of the way of the gun and accidentally rear-ended another car. He said the accident caused the gun to go off and she was struck by a bullet in the head, the sources said.
The victim was rushed to a hospital but died.
The investigation is continuing because police want to be sure the story as told by the boyfriend is correct, the sources said. Police are awaiting gun trace results, as part of the ongoing investigation.

(146,190 posts)tend to end up shooting themselves with surprising regularity. Personally, I believe that real firearms safety instruction that includes information about legal and illegal uses of firearms should be a requirement for any firearms purchase. Either a certificate of completion of such an approved course, or a well-designed exam to be taken by a firearms purchaser would fill the requirements.
I do not believe that people should be able to walk into a gun shop off the street and walk out with any firearm. For pistols, there is a waiting period in most jurisdictions. For long guns, though, in Minnesota, I can walk in with money and walk out with the firearm. Nobody would ask me if I actually know anything about firearms. They'd just ask how much ammo I wanted.

(32,566 posts)I don't understand people who have no awareness of how dangerous guns are, and how easily they can "accidentally" go off--especially glocks.

(56,582 posts)But in the actual protests as far as I've seen the Police and all media outlets agree nobody has been shot.
Despite the "continuous heavy fire" the police chief and captain said they were constantly receiving.
