He said all along that torture is illegal, and he's been questioning all his guests about it's effectiveness.

what if it prevents terrorist acts? He doubted if there was any other effective methods. His guest was totally against it.

the entire show because at the end of the torture portion he stated he just trying to get it out in the open.

as you posted "If it works, why shouldn't we?" was a question he ask. At the end of the torture portion he said he was trying to get the information out, it was not advocating.

As I could stomach. The questions he was asking were not rhetorical. He said he wasn't for sure everything they did was torture.
