1. Conservatives love the security of a strong authoritarian government that will

take care of them. This includes Conservative Democrats that condemn whistle-blowers and defend the NSA/CIA Deep State.

Our founders would be so disappointed that so many are willing to give up their freedoms and liberties for the promise (they cross their fingers and swear they are only looking out for you) of security.

2. I have become ambivalent. Originally I hated the fact that

we were under camera surveillance in public, but security cameras are often the only evidence we have of the most outrageous police misconduct--like that cop who roughed up an innocent young black man and stole all the cash he was carrying.

But all the *other* surveillance, especially by the NSA, is clearly a violation of our rights and a large step toward fascism. Furthermore, I suspect the Deep State uses information gleaned from such domestic spying to control politicians, even more than Hoover did when he was in power.
