If the couple whose wedding was relocated isn't upset - why should anyone else be?

Does it impact you in any way? I don't quite understand getting angry over something that clearly was resolved and ended on good terms. Am I missing something here?

Or is this just another attempt to take a shot at Pres. Obama?

Hm...

31. Obama staff had no reason to believe a ceremony was planned for the 16th tee.

Obama's staff called for a tee time and got one. No one told them there was a wedding ceremony planned at the 16th tee on the golf course. It is reasonable for them to assume if there were "obstacles" the course staff would have said so and not given Obama that tee time.

The course manager made the decision to move the ceremony after Obama got the tee time and he did not consult nor notify Obama nor Obama's staff. Nor was there reason to. The manager moved the ceremony what appears to be just a few yards to a nearby and even more picturesque spot overlooking the origin spot, but with a lot more privacy. This did not appear to affect the wedding reception at all, which was presumably planned in the clubhouse or other sit-down location, as opposed to the 16th tee on the golf course.

This story is just another bullshit story trumped up to bash Obama.

2. Because the President can't seem to do anything right.

Adding to the unforgettable experience was an unexpected phone call from Obama, who phoned the couple to apologize for the mix-up.

Dryer said the President told Mallue, also an Army captain, “If I had skipped the 16th hole, I would have had a better score.”

If you are Republican, you throw any conceivable complaint at Obama, based on nothing, to hope it sticks.

It doesn't have to be consistent with anything else you say ever.

And if it sticks even slightly, beat it to death.

7. Imagine the headline "President Obama skips golf game to avoid inconveniencing bride and groom",

followed by a story where the President made alternative plans so that the wedding could go ahead as planned. What would you think reading such a story? How would this compare with the optics of what actually happened?

No matter what this guy does, he's going to vilified for doing it.

If he were to rush into a burning building to save a baby the headline would read - "Obama prevents firefighters from saving baby".

Same as it ever was...he can't win.

That doesn't mean he should sit in the White House cowering in fear of getting bad press over a traffic jam or a closed restaurant or blocked off area of a golf course.

10. Because.. scold scold scold.. As this person said on the FB page..

Lucas Johnson If ya'll would read the article, the President called them personally and apologized and it "made their day", AND they got to have their wedding at a much nicer venue. Considering the golf course was on a military base that he frequently plays on, and everyone is notified that their plans might have to change if he comes around, I see no problem with this. Please read the article before jumping to conclusions

20. It fits two RW narratives. Obama golfs too much, and Obama hates the troops.

There should be no story here. Its hardly the only time people have had to change plans because of a high level VIP.

The USS Lincoln had to turn around and go back to sea so Bush could announce "Mission Accomplished". But the RW didn't care about those sailors returning home. So Obama golfs. So what? Bush went for long bike rides. Clinton jogged (can't call it running). People have to be moved for that to happen.

My feeling about this in particular: The couple were aware the venue would be moved. There were already alternate locations in place. And they actually got a better venue out of it. Base COs have huge houses, much like university presidents, that are used for many formal occasions and gatherings. The kinda parties you have to wear your Dress A's. The view is better, cause this house was on a hill above the golf course.

And its not like the President knows who's getting displaced. It just happens. He tells someone he wants to play golf tomorrow. Staffer tells another staffer, and this military golf course gets a phone call. "The President would like to play a round of golf tomorrow."The golf course doesn't say "No can do, there's a wedding scheduled." They just move the wedding. No one in the White House knew there was a wedding until after it was moved.

Nothing else changed, nothing was ruined, the wedding went off as planned (well, plan B but you know), and these two low-level officers got a better venue and a personal congratulatory phone call from the President of the United States. They came out ahead, and the RW still gets all bent out of shape.

That poor couple, so obviously distressed by this inconvenience. And now, every anniversary they have will be haunted by this memory.

Can I just lol instead of adding a sarcasm post? I think the sarcasm is obvious, so

I wish them many years of happiness. Getting a phone call from the President of the United States on my wedding day would be pretty awesome, imo.

27. I remember one of the first Clinton stories were a couple brand new staffers taking a helicopter

out to play that Congressional golf course. That was true as far as I know. I would have been knocking some heads together if I were Clnton on that one but it kind of shows what the people you'd have working for you might be like. Of course the wedding moves for the golf round, he's the freakin' President! It would have been better if they had played it the other way. It also wouldn't have hurt the people that booked the wedding to stand their ground with whatever staffers they dealt with. It could be they were falling all over themselves assuring Obamas' people it wouldn't be a problem.

If my first wedding had been moved for the President, I'd still be telling the story. It would even be better if it was a President I hated. Getting to tell the story would be worth him doing that for sure!

40. Good question. The anti-Obama slant was first posted by Bloomberg News.

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/obama-tee-time-scuttles-soldiers-wedding-venue/story?id=27880910

Then the rest of the MSM ran with the same type anti-Obama headline, suggesting the venue change was the President's fault.

It appears that a call from Bloomberg News is what tipped off the President that there was a wedding.

After Bloomberg Politics inquired about the scheduling conflict, Obama put in a personal call to the bride.

46. Okay - who has had an obnoxious wedding in the past few years?

Hi - me!

Was it outside or inside? Outside!

What month? Middle of April.

Where? Central NJ! You know where it could be 40 and rainy on April 15th, or 72 and sunny and breezy - or 93 and hot and huuuuuuuuuuumid.

Unfortunately I got that 93 hot and humid day.

Who the fuck plans a wedding outside NOT being aware that you could have changes to precisely WHERE you get married at the said venue?

No one.

No one investing that time and money and stress is going to overlook that in their contract.

Can we be reasonable folks?

This was not a big deal. And she obviously didn't go all Bridezilla over this.

If President Obama and Michelle Obama had wanted a tour of an extremely historic inn on the day I got married - I would have understood.

But if it had been Joe and Jill Biden I would have said - AFTER the ceremony and can I pretty please have my first dance with VP Bad Ass? I promise to give him lots of ice cream!
