Oklahoma Legislator Proposes Hoodie Ban

I wear hoodies all the time, for warmth. This is ridiculous imo. What's next?

Oklahoma Legislator Proposes Hoodie Ban

Similar bans already exist in some places around the country

Oklahoma could join a list of states where it is illegal to wear a hoodie in public, if a state senator’s proposed bill goes through.

Republican state senator Don Barrington has authored a bill to ban wearing a mask, hood or other face-covering in order to hide one’s identity in a public space, Oklahoma’s Channel 6 reports. The measure includes exceptions for holidays and special events like Halloween and religious beliefs.

Similar laws are already on the books in 10 states around the country, including Florida, California, New York and Washington, DC.

Proponents say hoodie bans help deter crime by preventing people from hiding their identity while entering a store or other public space, but critics of the measure argue that such laws restrict free expression and exacerbate problems with racial profiling in communities of color.

I have difficulty identifying someone in a base ball cap and cowboy hat, did he take time to add this to his list of foolishness? I have hoodies, there are times in inclement weather a hoodie protects the person wearing it. I guess he is still trying to protect Zimmerman, Travon was protecting himself from the rain, it is the gun which needed to be banned, no gun and Travon would have returned home to sleep.

ridiculous and/or unconstitutional laws. If it is not a total waste of time, tax payer funds, and guaranteed to be challenged in the courts - it is not worth their time of day. We live in serious times with a keystone kop state legislature.

keep one warm. So, I now wonder if this applies to the hood on my stadium jacket, or anything that resembles a hoodie. Are we now supposed to walk around freezing our heads off so cameras and onlookers can watch us. IMO yet more stupid asinine ridiculous laws.

1. if the air quality is bad
2. the most important is not to spread colds... if you are sneezing, you don't want others to catch it or for you to inhale one's cold, if they are coughing..

When I visit the hospital I often see people wearing surgical masks, not for surgery.. but to prevent themselves from getting cold and flu. Of course masks are worn for surgery..but that is never done out side a surgical room.

Will our faces have to be illuminated if we go out after dark ???

What other articles of clothing should 'potential' criminals be banned from wearing.

Suits seem to be a very popular item of very well know thieves !!!!!!!!!

Should we outlaw suits on Wall Street, in DC, on K Street, etc. ???

The white collar criminals don't hide their faces in the U.S.

They smile for the cameras.

In 2010, nearly 90,000 people were killed or injured by non-homicidal gun discharges; only 11,000 were actually murdered.

Hang about the firearms section of your Wal-Mart for ten minutes and you will discover a nearly 1:1 relationship between the poltroons who shoot other people and the poltroons who wear camouflage.

Using the same reasoning as the legislator named above, only without the disgusting troglodyte racism, the real move to improve the safety of his subjects would be to ban hunting, guns and camo.

Such a move, I predict, would have the exact same influence on crime and gang activity-none-but it would harm, inconvenience, and anger many more white people, thus more directly including them in the march back to slavery.

but those days are gone. I'm embarrassed to say the least. If I was younger I'd consider a move but too entrenched here locally to do that at this advanced age.

In the mid to late '70s we had a lot of people move to our state cause we still had work. Our politics changed then and every since we've been going down hill to the point where there's not a democrat to be found on the state or national level. Locally its still mostly democratic with many elections settled at the primaries cause there won't be a puke running. half a dozen democrats but no pukies to muddy up the waters any

Hope you have a great new year

and that may lengthen the sentence. I seriously doubt it's meant to deter crime in the first place.

What's really stupid is a blanket law making it illegally to walk with a hood up.
