The first step was to recognize that our laws are being applied selectively.

Lex Rex is a fleeting thing. Rex Lex lasts only slightly longer, until people tire of the Rex of their day.

'Law and Order' was and still is, the racist rallying cry of Reichwingers for as long I've been alive. The Ferguson PD believes they are the champions of Law and Order.

From the other side, they appear on the other side of Justice, the Laws passed, and an Order that is deadly to them. Always two sides to everything. Not saying they are equal, though.

The forced imposition of Law and Order on Bundy would have resulted in deaths and further disorder. At such times, the Law stands back. I'm disgusted Bundy and his bunch didn't get hustled off to court, but it's pretty wild west there.

They've even had some support from the 'libertarian left,' claiming government was breaking older laws, ones written before the state of Nevada entered the Union, on certain terms, such as compelling Federal Law in the state of Nevada. Those Laws are still in effect.

All that was setting the stage for more JBS, Koch, public land grabbing at work:

As to Cheney, et al, they were elected by half the nation (allegedly) and supported by those same people after that. They consider their actions to have been Lawful - ALL OF THEM. Voters believe the holders of huge wealth and let them get away with it because they feel the rich will protect their interests.

And Justice requires the application of Force, which many do not believe in. Germany would not have been the place for the Nuremberg Tribunals without an occupying army there. Where their Laws were nullified, their government in pieces, their people made to do as foreign troops told them. Including work, freedom of movement, whatever social infrastructure they had and everything else we still have here.

The application of Force to maintain Justice is a dangerous factor most leave out of the equation for trying Cheney. Who will do to the USA what was done to Germany and Japan? And do we want it done to us? Have we thought this out? Who will be arbiter in an increasingly decentralized world?

The system of Justice on an international level has come and gone and may come back. But then again, it may not. And it did not solve the problems not part of its goals of punishment. It did not stop the USSR moving into eastern Europe, the Berlin Wall or many other things.

As much as I want these criminals at the bar of Justice, there is no one thing that will free us from our bondage.

JMHO.

what it takes to achieve them. Stepping back was the easy thing to do, and all we get for it is a continuation.

Is that good?

First the House and Senate would begin the process, the very group who voted for the war regardless of whether they were given false info. The proof would be hard to begin with. Would their be a conviction? I doubt it.
