(36,457 posts)They are nothing but debris collectors. Also not a big fan of plaid pants, but it was popular at the time.

(2,016 posts)I had the plaid bell bottoms, too. I never had the platform shoes, though. But get this - I had a lime green leisure suit, worn with a yellow wide collar shirt. Ugh. Glad the 70s are over.

(53,339 posts)I also had two "leisure suits" that I wore at the U.S. Capitol all the time while serving as an intern to a House member.

(146,286 posts)went on my body. I standardized on Levi 501s and pocket Tees in the 1960s, and am still wearing the same outfit today. I simply ignore men's styles altogether, and do just fine. Now that I live in Minnesota, I'm sometimes wearing a plaid flannel shirt, adding a parka as weather demands.
For funerals, I go with black chinos, a simple dress shirt and tie and a blazer. I keep one pair of dress shoes on hand, to be worn only with that outfit. That combination also serves for meetings with fussy clients. The rest of the time it's walking shoes or boots.
No slave to fashion am I.

(17,997 posts)I think Eldridge Cleaver I never thought fashion, if that's what you would call this. Now, this is what is going to pop in my mind. I hear, "you don't have to teach people to be human. You have to teach them not to be inhuman." I am going to think of this. (I hope I remember the quote correctly)
I would imagine these pants would be uncomfortable.
I thought that was just a decorative ...um... addition. Did it actually house the "stuff" in there?
Brother Buzz
(36,416 posts)So stop saying that!

(17,997 posts)That certainly gives a new spin to "keep it in your pants."

(17,997 posts)With these. However, I admit reading that article kind of made me sad. Looks like he created them because of writers block.
Being a woman, I wouldn't know, but I can't imagine these would be close to comfortable. And, some guys, I would think, wouldn't want to share how much is there, or not there.

(38,310 posts)But not shaved and butt-floss small, thank goodness. I'm old fashioned that way.
I had a girlfriend (well not a girlfriend but a friend who was a girl. No, okay, it was complicated...) who was overcome with joy at the invention of the sports bra. Wikipedia says it was invented in 1977 by Lisa Lindahl and Polly Smith, which is the right time frame.
Anyways she'd always get pretty chewed up by her old fashioned not-meant-for-sports bras when we went running together so one day she decided not to wear a bra at all, just a teeshirt. We ran ten or twelve miles that day. I confess it was distracting, but worse, afterwards was the first time I ever heard about sore breasts and chafed nipples. OMG did I hear about it. Days and days. And I was such an innocent and virginal waif too.
