that.

Using the death of an officer to throw their personal temper tantrums, is despicable.

And all it does is prove the allegations against them.

Now how about the people turn their backs on them.

Since they are not handing out tickets anymore, thankfully, the city will need revenue.

One way to get that is to cut back on the hiring of more police.

Downsizing the NYPD would be another.

by an overwhelming majority. I know what they and Giuliani did to Mayor Dinkins. And unfortunately, got away with it.

THIS time that should NOT happen. De Blasio should not back down one inch on the reforms the people elected him to implement.

THIS is what all of this about, the surly, bullying NYPD hated de Blasio long before any of this happened, he knew that I'm sure.

Now it's time for Dems, I know, a faint hope, to GET TOUGH on these tactics, to call them out, to tell them we've had enough and their actions CONFIRM the need for the reforms de Blasio ran on.

I bet hardly ANY of those thugs with their backs turned, live in NYC. Most of them live in the suburbs. AND THAT is one of the reforms de Blasio spoke about, going back to more community policing.

New Yorkers are responding to the extortion with a hearty "fuck you" to the police. The NYPD are walking a very fine line here.

The slowdown apparently consists of not writing parking tickets, not fining minorities for living their lives, and general discontent.

I hope I can live there in another lifetime. Too old now lol.

But keep us posted. I really think this will backfire on them. I sure hope so.

At any rate, I sure will reach out to you as to good places to stay if I visit.

When I was a child, we actually stayed at the Waldorf. (No wonder I have such good memories of NYC lol).

I'd be looking for something more affordable if I return.

Everything from Tips lines and cooperative witnesses, to welcoming schools and communities, for outreach programs.

Those things all dry up and go away if the public turns against the police.

Policing is going to be damn difficult if everyone in New York is suddenly "I didn't see nuthin'".

they feel the social consequences of their behavior.

As for the work consequences....well, I hope they do feel it. I hope schools think long and hard about having cops, and I hope parents complain about having cops come and speak to kids.

During the protests, I truly believe, that one of the major things that turned the general public against the unions was when they protested during a Special Olympics event. I live in Mid Wisconsin, and although it is generally "red", a lot of people stood with the public sector during Act 10 protests. When Gov. Walker was at Special Olympics event, and the protesters stood in front of the Special Olympics participants and turned their backs, that changed public opinion on their message.
This may too........

Hard to make the case that you need to maintain staffing levels when the city is doing fine with a reduced security presence.
