New NYPD Recruitment Ad

Would you like to be able to do anything, and never be held to account?

Can you take any situation and make it about you?

Are you willing to protest at a funeral and yet take other citizens right to protest, with no sense of irony?

Does any legitimate criticism send you into a pouting fit?

Do you believe respect and submission mean the same thing?

Then you have what it takes to become one of the NYPD!

what makes some cops lovable and other cops not so lovable.

I guess it depends on the provocation, time, place, or whatever.

Cops are reactionary as fuck, they're naturally going to go against a democratic mayor.

My point being: never side with cops in the first place.

Nice bigotry against newbies on your part, though. Shit like that makes DU suck.

Something we keep calling for around here.

You had to make a sarcastic comment.

Your reply and choice of words makes me doubt your "newbiness."

I apologize for my bigotry. If I have misjudged you, then that puts me in the wrong.

I still think your remark was sarcastic. We have to support the good cops.

I will say again (with feeling) - Welcome to DU.

Half are minorities. Many, many are progressive democrats.

Your brush is so broad that you come across as simple minded and ignorant.

and when someone posts "NYPD has some 40,000 officers, Half are minorities. Many, many are progressive democrats." What is the point of their post - I want to know why these supposed half of the force are not standing up and saying enough is enough.

The one cop is an example of what an officer should be............... where are the rest?

Put ~35,000 people together, half minorities, and you're going to have many democrats amongst them.

We should still support the good ones, but yes, we should say all we can and do all we can about the bad ones too. I, too, hated the aftermath of 9-11, but I've never had a problem with fire departments being considered heroes though. I've only ever heard of one fire department not doing their job. I can't remember all of the information, but it was posted here on DU a few years ago. That one fire department just let someone's house burn. I can't remember much more about it, but it was the only time I have ever heard anything about a fire department that was negative. I don't get the fire department negativity, honestly. I wouldn't lump the majority of firemen in with the cops who are violent and support other violent cops, as far as the brutality or any of that stuff goes.

If it does, just STFU. You're employees. Just STFU and do your job.
