What is the best response to a corrupt system? We all know that there there is corruption in our political and economic system - so what do you think the appropriate response is?
To overthrow and replace the system?
To engage and fix the system?
Or to opt out and abandon the system?

(12,081 posts)We have been voting either Republican or Democrat for centuries now and in the last 30 to 40 years at least it hasn't made any difference. Politicians are beholden to campaign contributors and we are stuck with Trickle Down Economics with no true representation in DC. I am hoping for a third party surge, and I do hope it will help turn things around. But even with all that hope the realist in me says that the rich will not give up their power and we may very well be forced into a revolution.

(21,528 posts)We saw it in 2008, the voters turned out, and things got done... but the right has so much control of the media they constantly beat the drum for wingnuts to vote based on outrage while simultaneously generating apathy in the left wing voters. People simply do not get an objective picture of what the left is doing and as a consequence they "shoot themselves in the foot" in the voting booth or don't vote at all.
