My "WTF?" moment of the day, Sarah Palin edition...

The woman has no credibility, no decency, and NO CLASS.

Palin Accuses NYC Mayor De Blasio Of Murdering A Groundhog

Palin used her recent dust up with PETA over a picture of her son standing on their dog as an excuse to attack NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio for supposedly killing groundhog "Staten Island Chuck."

Somehow Palin managed to make it through this interview with Sean Hannity without attacking President Obama for "eating dog meat" again, but she was still playing the conservative victim card over her recent dust up with PETA and this time she took aim at one of the right's other favorite targets, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio.

From Fox's blog: Palin Fires Back at PETA for 'Hypocritical Double Standards':

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was on “Hannity” tonight to respond to backlash over a photo of her son, Trig, and his service dog. [...]

Palin told Sean Hannity tonight that PETA has been attacking her for years because she hunts. While she said she thought she had seen it all, “this one kind of took [her] aback.”

The former governor said that she loves animals, specifically her youngest son’s service dog.

“We love her, we’d never abuse her,” she stressed.

Palin told Hannity, “I think what we’ve done is proven the irrelevance of PETA and many on the left because the double standards that they apply [are] so hypocritical. Ellen DeGeneres was PETA’s woman of the year and she posted the same image: a child, standing, using as a foot stool her little dog. And there were outcries of ‘oohs’ and ‘ahs’ and how beautiful Ellen that was, but Sarah Palin, heck no. And also, their man of the year in 2014 was Mayor de Blasio, who, my goodness, he killed a groundhog, didn’t he?"

Wait... de Blasio killed a groundhog? How did I miss that one? Who knew the NYC mayor was really a heartless groundhog murderer?

We have our answer. It came straight from that bastion of journalistic integrity, Rupert Murdoch's The New York Post. Griftie McWord Salad read it there, so it must be true.

Gawker had some fun with them for this made up "controversy" back in September: Zoo Covers Up Bill de Blasio's Groundhog Murder:

Like a giant trying to hold a human baby, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and his big, dumb hands dropped a helpless groundhog on February 2 (Groundhog's day). The poor hog died of internal injuries, and "then the coverup began," according to this New York Post exclusive. [...]

It turns out that the groundhog, "Staten Island Chuck," was actually a "female impostor" named Charlotte. Charlotte died February 9 of "acute internal injuries," may she rest in peace.

Why are we just hearing about this now? The Post reports:

Staten Island Zoo officials went to great lengths to hide the death from the public ... Instead of revealing the sad loss, the zoo—which gets nearly half of its $3.5?million in annual funding from the city—told the staff to keep the mayor's office in the dark about the animal's fate. They told only a few zoo supporters — but claimed that the groundhog had died of natural causes.

How far does this thing go, huh? Assemblyman Matthew Titone (D-SI) seems to be in on it. "I was told he died of old age, that he went to that big farm in the sky," he said.

The groundhog story wasn't hidden. I read about it in Feb when it happened. n/t FSogol Jan 2015 #1

spare him some embarrassment. The Mayor office found out months later.
