Back in the day when I was a newspaper reporter, he'd return phone calls -- even on Sundays.

Hope his son follows in his father's Democratic footsteps.

11. Dan was very active in Flint politics, before running for congress

County Commissioner, Treasurer, founded the Genesee County Land Bank. He shares his uncle's passion for Michigan. I know it wasn't just his last name that got him elected. Anyone who has paid any attention to local politics knew Dan was the best man for the job and he won, both times, by a sizable margin. He really does get things done.
