Am I the only one thinking the continuous focus of the American News cable on France is Disturbing

I am French, so this is very bothering to me, but I am starting to find extremely dubious the continuous hot take, particularly when I hear so many mistakes being told (including on MSNBC).

I think we would be better served by news when something new is happening.

There are other things that deserve to be reported.

Change Weird to Disturbing. I have been living in the States for 14 years, so this does not surprise me, but it really disturbs me,just as the 24/7 reporting of the planes crashes or other events bother me.

Added : so, some media report the hostages are safe. Some report there are 4 dead among the hostages. (per DU and Twitter, my TV is off) I guess this is valuable reporting which could not wait to get an official number.

the obsessive coverage of The Poop Ship Cruise, Malaysia Airlines..etc...it is astounding how they can latch onto one topical event and pretend there can be no other.

There is a lot of good news in the economy, bad news for the GOP, avoiding informing folks is as useful
as misinforming folks for a propagandist.

There is a not a minute or two to spare for other news? There is a ton of other important news...but who would know?

It is not wierd or odd, it is the plan. It is not news, it is propaganda, then things come all into focus.

24/7 news outlets just love to latch onto one story and hype it to the max. It was much better when TV news was in the afternoon and evening with breaks for real breaking news. These organization exist to maintain their existence, the same with all talking head radio and TV.

staffers to drone on and on as the ad revenue sloshes in.

Like fucking Groundhog Day at CNN, they just change the ground hog weekly.

If something happens that is controversial or involves people getting killed, they will report on it over and over and over and speculate about it and offer stupid opinions, and when they have run out of actual verifiable facts they will make stuff up to fill air time. Another good example was last spring when the Malaysian Airlines plane disappeared and CNN went crazy, and that idiot Don Lemon speculated that it had been swallowed up by a black hole. It's just what they do. And yes, it's really irritating and stupid.

is an American staple on news shows.

This and the Boston Marathon and the hostage taking in Sydney - actually make more sense than continuous obsession with a missing plane.

As for accuracy, the more you know about what they are reporting on the more mistakes you will notice. True no matter what subject or event they cover. It is just a race to get to the next disaster and get on air, no time for investigation but cable news is, disgustingly, just for entertainment mostly anyway. They turn the suffering of others into ratings and ad dollars while their talking heads do that very practiced and controlled facial expression that makes it look like they are concerned.

and sadly, not unusual that USA mainstream media screws up the reporting.
Many people do not confuse the networks with reliability.

I update a few times a day and walk away. First off - I choose Not to be "Corporately Traumatized". Corporate Media is NOW a Major force of "Mood Makers" for the masses-it has been debated and discussed a Lot over the past...but we tend to Not recognize it coming at us--only After the dust settles do we see the negative impact of our Own FEAR and then it's too late most of the time. MSM likes to use Human (primal) FEAR to control and it is a powerful tool...this time they target social media etc......what will "we" be willing to give up next?
Net Neutrality?
I have used the opportunity of decreased programming over the holidays to totally wean myself from corporate media. What do we really learn from it?
All just my vho.

We'd be blasted because we don't care since it's not happening here because we are self-centered Americans.
