I distinctly remember reading an article where Jeb's
friends were interviewed, and one was quoted saying something
like "He'd rather stay in the private sector because he can make
more money and besides, he's got skeletons in his closet."
What are the skeletons? (Besides running election fraud software?)"

(58,655 posts)Gov. Jeb Bush, facing published reports about infidelity as he ponders re-election, dismissed rumors today of an extramarital affair with an agency head as an "outright lie."
"I cannot tell you how hurtful this is," Bush said in response to a reporter's question following a bill-signing ceremony. "I love my wife. There is nothing to this rumor. It is an outright lie." Bush, the younger brother of President Bush, also said today he plans to announce next month whether he will seek re-election in 2002. He said he would make the decision after sitting down with his family and talking about the toll the job takes on his private life.
For months, talk in Tallahassee bars and state offices and Internet Web pages linked Bush with Cynthia Henderson, secretary of the Department of Management Services. Today's comment was his first public response to the rumors. On Thursday, a columnist for the Tallahassee Democrat reported about a rumor of an affair involving two high-ranking public officials but did not identify them. Over the weekend, two other papers the St. Petersburg Times and the Orlando Sentinel wrote about the rumors involving Bush and Henderson and said Bush had denied them.
"Lies were spread by gossip. Sadly, it's reached the point where it's being written about," Bush said. "But the fact you have to ask that question and I have to answer is sick, it really is." Bush, 48, has been married to Columba Bush for 27 years. They have three children. Henderson, 40, met the governor in the 1980s through his brother Neil, who was on the board of directors of a land development company where she served as corporate counsel. Henderson also served on the board of director's of Jeb Bush's think tank, the Foundation for Florida's Future. Bush originally appointed Henderson to head the Department of Business and Professional Regulation in January 1999. During her first year on the job, she faced questions about her ethics in running the agency on several occasions. Last September, Bush transferred Henderson to the Department of Management Services, a lower profile agency that oversees state facilities and insurance and retirement programs for state employees. Bush at that time said the criticism of Henderson was unjustified and had nothing to do with his decision.

(70,670 posts)I don't understand the different machinations; these are my broad-strokes:
Shrub had his start-up businesses that he would get investors for and then sell for more than they were worth or something. Besides his drugs and whatever missions Poppy sent him on.
Neil had the Savings and Loan crash that he got a bailout for. Then more recently something to do with "education" meaning getting government funds to push packages of curriculum and glossy booklets onto schools.
Jeb Crow Shrub had a string of businesses, in partnership with 1stGenCubanExiles/CIA, involving milking MediCARE, something about his boarding planes with suitcases of cash.
*******The classic line from Poppy came when reporters pissed him off asking about the Shrubs' feeding at the public trough: "My boys have a RIGHT to MAKE A LIVING!!!!!1"
How is it that this plutocratic clan feeds so much at the public trough?!1 As for Jeb Crow Shrub's recent dumping documents in an absurd pretense of "transparency" ---- He dumped thousands of e-mails from his bygone days as governor, intended to show his policy decision making and also his hipness in using the internet. These were all "policy" crap, NOT the good DIRT about his myriad of dirty business cashing in. Plus, it's aimed at cornering Hillary, who has her own treasure trove of documents. A media yakker said recently that he and Hillary will cancel each other out, both having their similar negatives in paper history.

(50,130 posts)...told me some years ago that he had the goods on Jeb. A couple of bimbo eruptions, IIRC. And if this reporter says he has the goods, it's true.

Now, is there proof? I think there is. It wouldn't take much effort to uncover it. Of course we have to expect the Bush clan to assassinate prospective witnesses.

(42,770 posts)out there. Election night, Kerry was ahead...and they went to
wherever the Bush family was gathered - and Jeb said something
like, "Let me make some calls...."
Think Kerry was up by 2 in the last poll before the election. He
"lost" by 5 - which all represents a 7 point swing. But, the
kicker was that the exits said very few made up their minds
in the days before the election. So, where'd the 7 percentage
come from?

(50,983 posts)They checked the exit polls in France (I believe it was). They found them to be very precise. Exit polls have always been proven accurate. I understand you already know this.
Anti-Dubya sentiment was extremely high in 2004.
I live in Ohio. I could not have been more shocked leading up to the election. You could seldom find a yard with a Bush sign. Almost every yard had multiple Kerry signs. This indicated a highly unusual level of support for Kerry. I have never seen so many signs for a presidential candidate, ever. I know it isn't an official measuring stick but I am convinced. Dubya lost Ohio in 2004. He probably lost by a wide margin. But, like the Bushes always do, they cheated.

(13,877 posts)They let it crowd out and overshadow the real stuff because at the end of the day no one in their right mind thinks politicians are flawlessly faithful to their wives...or husbands. Some may be, but most are not. There are some things Americans like to be in denial about...and infidelity at the public level is way up at the top, IMHO.
