"Up to 75% of Abused Women Who Are Murdered Are Killed After They Leave their partners"

Last edited Wed Jan 14, 2015, 03:42 AM - Edit history (1)

The Guardian:

There is a toxic question that surrounds abused women: “why didn’t she just leave him?”

The answer, too often, is that many women that do leave get killed.

Also according to Bureau of Justice Statistics in the US: "3 women are killed every day".

I can not possibly understate how helpful or interested in my safety the cops were, either.

They ignored physical evidence and only interviewed him once. He didn't immediately confess, they moved on to other things.

edit: And that was with a documented pattern of one prior attempt, break-ins and stalking.

It just doesn't leave any physical signs except destroying your immune system so you get a near fatal illness.

Not to take anything away from people who suffer physical abuse. And I have known battered men.

Also psychological abuse can be some of the worst forms such as gaslighting (which is sometimes a precursor to the physical abuse).

Not to blame the victim. (Though some surely do)

Many are trying to understand. But no doubt there are better questions to be asked.
