Texas House Approves Panic Buttons After Open Carry Advocates Intimidate Members

The Texas House of Representatives has approved the installation of panic buttons after aggressive open carry advocates pressure lawmakers to approve new open carry handgun laws.

The Texas House has approved new housekeeping rules that will allow lawmakers to have "hostile" citizens ejected from their offices. The new House rules also sanction the installation of panic buttons in lawmakers' offices. The Houston Chronicle is reporting that the precautions are the direct result of a confrontation Tuesday between Tarrant County Open Carry members and lawmakers who oppose Texas House Bill 195. That bill would overturn the state’s 125-year-long ban on openly carrying handguns.

Several House members, including Democratic state representatives Poncho Nevarez and Celia Israel, complained that about 20 truculent members of the gun rights group initiated a bellicose confrontation with legislators who oppose the bill on Tuesday, the first day of the new House session. Seeming to confirm the officials' account is a video the open carry group's leader, Kory Watkins, (photo above) posted to his account. In it, gun advocates can be heard calling Rep. Nevarez "a tyrant to the Constitution" and warning him "you won't be here very long, bro." The belligerent men then refused to leave when asked.

Ohio is an open carry state and that didn't stop cops from shooting down two black men carrying toy guns.

So I now qualify that whole "open carry" thing as "WHITE open carry".

His drivers license has been suspended after all. After he begged for money on Facebook a few months ago it seems like he would be best served by getting a job.
