Due to the disparate rulings, the SCOTUS must make a ruling.

(21,552 posts)The same-sex marriage ban they are reviewing (one of them anyway) is the overturning of the Michigan state constitutional amendment. the ruling to overturn the ban happened last MARCH before another judge stayed the overturning.... it was then appealed to the Supreme Court. so that will be 15 months between the appeal and the hearing of the case while gays and lesbians in Michigan sit in limbo.
