Eastwood film ‘American Sniper’ sets box office record while setting off flurry of racist tweets

.............

TheRaganBrock, whose timeline is loaded with paeans to Kyle and who saw the film earlier, tweeted, “Ngl teared up at the end of American Sniper. Great fucking movie and now I really want to kill some fucking ragheads.”

Reece Filon, who has since made his tweets unavailable, wrote, “America sniper made me appreciate soldiers 100x more and hate Muslims 1000000x more.”

Harshnewyorker wrote, “Nice to see a movie where the Arabs are portrayed for who they really are – vermin scum intent on destroying us. #Deblasio #AmericanSniper”

.............

In another tweet, since deleted, Dex Harmon wrote, “American sniper makes me wanna go shoot some fuckin Arabs” which was followed by artwork of three handguns.

This is precisely what war propaganda movies are made to do, whip up fervor in favor of mass murder and even genocide.

I'm getting to the point where I'm starting to regard those who are so easily influenced by propaganda to be something less than fully human. Either that, or I've got to downgrade my baseline of what I consider human by a LOT, and I'd rather not do that.

Many get angry when that religion is criticized. Why Islam gets a pass for every stupid thing they do is beyond my understanding. All religion is dangerous, in my view.

Boko Haram just recently sent a 10 year old girl into a market with a bomb. That's not some made up Hollywood crap. That shit is real. And it happens in real life. And we are not allowed to blame the religion at all?

And America didn't create Boko Haram, by the way. There would still be terrorists in this world regardless of our foreign policy. People have been slaughtering each other over religion in this world LONG before America was even founded.

Boko Hararm = Al-Qaeda = ISIS = monarchies of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, etc.

They are all followers of the Salafari-Wahabbi movement which came from an 18th century preacher. Petro dollars from the US-Saudi Arabia alliance certainly spread the Wahabbi movement. (They invest with the money they)

Who are the primary victims (I'm talking total numbers here)? Muslims.

(not you, just the logic)

Catholic, Lutheran, Methodist, etc we are all aware of the different sects of Christianity and I'd say The Door (Potter's House) doctrine is closer to the Wahabbi doctrine in terms of differences with the majority of rituals & beliefs of the overall the followers but a "convert or die" being a major difference between the two ultraconservative, orthodox sects.

I'm an Atheist or probably more Agnostic but it wouldn't make much sense for me to blame the extremist Christian since his interpretation motivated him to do that when Christianity also motivated people such as Martin Luther King or Martin Luther (who'd probably disagree with Lutherans calling themselves Lutherans rather than Christians).

Personally I'd guess there's a fair amount of military supported bullshit in the guy's books. Jesse Ventura won a defamation lawsuit for something in one of his books which appeared to have been invented out of whole cloth.

And we know the military was responsible for a similar glorification of Jessica Lynch. Which she disavowed.

But, being a dude of the dude-liking persuasion and the recipient of the term "faggot" on numerous occasions, it has dawned on me that if I really don't want people to say such things it would be better to get them to stop thinking them. And, if they can't say that they think them, I don't know that they think them and therefore cannot persuade that there are possibly good reasons for not thinking them.

My adherence to the principle may appear based in rugged Americana but is actually founded on a more prosaic foundation.

The most controversial Grand Theft Auto series was controversial mainly due to its popularity which Rockstar has consistently raised the bar in what you can do GTA III came out in an era where games where basically "one long hallway" but there was also Smuggler's Run (also Rockstar) & Driver which allowed for more freedom.

However the series has mainly a liberal message in addition to its satire on American culture. "The American Dream" of GTA IV was terrific and had Weazel News (instead of Fox) reporting stories such as Jingoistic Act (instead of Patriot). However GTA 5 was a major drop-off in story but was a major, major upgrade in gameplay.

Clint Eastwood: "I Was Against Going Into the War in Iraq"

8:01 AM PST 12/8/2014 by Scott

The director of 'American Sniper' says he also had "a big question" about America going into Afghanistan

"I was against going into the war in Iraq since I figured we would probably trip over ourselves in some way," Clint Eastwood revealed after screening his new film American Sniper on Saturday at the Academy of Motion Picture Artists and Sciences' Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.

"I had a big question when we went into Afghanistan," he also said, explaining, "Did anybody ever study the history of Afghanistan, not only with the British, but the Russians? There was a Russian general named Vivikov, who was the commander for 10 years there, and I thought, 'Did anybody ever...?' So I called a friend of mine who was over there for many years and knew this general. I said, 'Did anybody from our government ever go and research it like you would a movie? You know, can we film here?' And they said, 'No, they never did.' Vivikov is deceased now, but at the time I thought, 'Wouldn't a logical person go out and do a little research and say, 'How would you do this, Mr. Vivikov? What did you do wrong? And what are we doing wrong? Give us at least a hint.'"

propaganda piece. I am surprised they don't have recruiters lining the theater lobbies. Of course a lot might be surprised, the military requires more than a taste for blood, you have to have a certain IQ and pass a physical and psych test. That culls the heard, but not nearly enough. I look for private Christian armies to pop up to fill the gap. Isn't that what a "well-regulated militia" is supposed to do?? Funny, for all their bravado, I find it hard to believe many would give up that 500K a year job, organic foods, modern conveniences, their McMansions and vacation homes, wives, girlfriends and mistresses to sit in some shit hole waiting to die.
