Chris Kyle's Supposed Record

Until a few days ago I had not known that Chris Kyle had been accused of telling a number of lies. I knew that he had been sued by Jesse Ventura with Ventura claiming Kyle lied about him in his (Kyle's) book American Sniper, but that was all I knew about. However, a few days ago I read a post at DU stating that Kyle had been accused of lying when he claimed to have shot and killed two would be carjackers and that he had shot and killed between 15-30 people from the roof of the Super Dome. Kyle's claim of shooting 15-30 people from the roof of the Super Dome made me wonder if he made up his Stat of killing 160 people as a Navy Seal sniper. I realize just about everyone says Kyle was credited with 160 confirmed kills. However, has anyone ever asked the Navy to confirm the number? After learning about Kyle's alleged lies I read a few articles about him. In one of the articles the author claimed the Navy never confirmed Kyle's claim. Does anyone know the truth? Did the Navy actually confirm Kyle's record?

"255 probably kills" according to the wiki page on him. It is listed in the very first paragraph.

As far as getting the actual numbers from the actual Navy itself, I don't know. I thought you had to have your last four to get that kind of information, but someone on DU recently mentioned being able to check anyone's military record somewhere online. I don't remember where it was.
