(1 post)I snuck in there about 3 years ago or so. Me and my friend narrowly got past the gate guards. But what we didn't know is that there are cameras surrounding the whole gate line. Well I guess we were spotted because within 30 seconds, we had 4-5 unmarked white and black cars searching for us. After we got away(10 minutes later) we spent about 2 or 3 hours walking down random streets checking out all the houses. Very cool, but felt a little "secret-society-ish." We eventually left without getting caught at all. They do not want people in there.

(21,925 posts)like Coto de Caza (pop. 15,000) in Orange County, California. I once tried to get in there and was treated like a foreigner at an international border. It's supposedly where Justin Bieber or whatever the fuck his name is lives now.

(8,419 posts)A fucking CLASSIC place. Brother in Law and Sister in Law live there. I always joke that I am elated that we have gated communities, because if something big goes down we can block the gates and keep all of the crazy assholes locked inside.

(8,419 posts)About 15 years ago they got all pissy and sued the Little League organization just outside the gates. The offense? Rancho Santa Margarita, the city just outside of the community, wouldn't let the kids in Coto play in their league. The reason? Coto asked to be included and RSM said fine, but we are short fields to cover all of the new kids. Coto had a baseball field but refused to let the RSM residents in to play and then were fucking pissed off when RSM said we don't have the facilities to cover your kids without you opening up your field for league use.

(3,425 posts)the community should be paying their own money to pay for streets. If they are not, they cannot bar the public from using them. We live in a HOA community but the streets are owned by the city. I am not sure about the sewers, we pay our own and of course the cops patrol the streets. They often sit in side streets to see if people are running the stop signs, very annoying.
We also have a private security company but they have no real power because they cannot pull people over on a public road.

(2,063 posts)It's a hassle with only the illusion of security. A dog would be a much better security investment.
Plus to me it's like living in a community jail. No thank you.
