Sen. Lindsey Graham, chief Senate sponsor of the GOPs effort to undermine Roe by banning abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy, spoke this morning to the Family Research Councils ProLifeCon, about the House GOPs decision to cancel a vote on its version of the bill that had been planned for today. The House leadership pulled the plug on the vote in response to protests from some Republican women who objected to a provision that exempted rape survivors from the ban only if they report the rape to police. Some anti-choice groups have objected to including a rape exception in the bill at all, a last-minute addition after the bills previous House sponsor, Trent Franks, implied that women who are raped rarely get pregnant. &x-yt-cl=84359240&x-yt-ts=1421782837
Graham acknowledged that opponents of rape exceptions are being intellectually consistent and honest about the baby is the baby but argued that banning rape survivors from accessing abortion is a political impossibility: Some of us who have these exceptions do so in a democratic society believing that there are some places we will not go.
Im going to need your help to find a way out of this definitional problem with rape, he told the audience.
The rape exception will be part of the bill We just need to find a way definitionally to not get us in a spot where were debating about what a legitimate rape is, thats not the cause that were in, he said.

(7,365 posts)3. Translation
We need a propaganda campaign to wash away the rape.
Rape or not, it's NOT YOUR FUCKING business what a women does with her body. It's NO ONES business but hers.
And THAT argument is no longer good enough anymore. Now we need to "justify" abortion by using the rape defense. Abortion does not need to be justified. In fact the proper term of miscarriage is "natural abortion"...so basically God is the biggest abortionist in the world. Go fuck with him Lindsay. If you can find him.

(726 posts)4. Why are old...
...white males still discussing what women can and cannot do with their bodies? Why are they still trying to tell women whether or not they were raped? The issue of abortion is really easy: If you don't like abortion then do not have one.

Here's a definition that is no problem at all - Senator Graham is the definition of the word moron.
