Two top Florida Republicans believe investigation against Rick Scott is justified.
Putnam, Atwater say allegations against Scott merit probe
TALLAHASSSEE Two top Republican statewide leaders are now saying that allegations by Florida's former top cop against Gov. Rick Scott deserve to be investigated.
Former Florida Department of Law Enforcement Commissioner Gerald Bailey was forced to resign in December. But Bailey this month has alleged that his ouster came after he refused to follow questionable orders coming from former Scott and his administration.
Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam and Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater said Thursday that someone should look into the allegations. They did not say who should investigate them. One suggestion is that the probe could be done by the state's inspector general office.
Bailey worked for the governor and the three Cabinet members. But Cabinet members said they found out afterward that Bailey was forced to resign by Scott.
