Your credit score determines pricing for broadband/phone packages.

I did not know this, until I called Mediacom to get pricing info. which I was then going to use to lower bill of my current ISP/phone provider.

The Media com sales guy said I had to give my personal info. so he could run a credit check
AND
give them a copy of my last bill from my current provider
before he would give me any pricing info.

I thought it was just them being nutz until I read this today:

T-Mobile says overall credit scores will no longer limit customer access to best pricing deals.

Apparently your credit score, even if you pay your bills on time, decides what packing deals you can get.

Anyone else run into this?????

This is true as well for your car insurance, house insurance, etc.. pretty much everything. Personally I think credit check agencies should be abolished. They are just legal racketeering. Before they existed, banks did just fine. You would have a relationship with your local banker and they would decide if you were trustworthy to repay or not.
