(6,335 posts)as much as possible. Many use UR for you are, you're. Twitter can be very aggravating
Curmudgeoness
(18,219 posts)Just say the sentence and see if "you are" fits where you use "your" or "you're". If it fits, it is the abbreviated "you're".
Your excuse sucks.
You're not trying.
Get it? Easy peasy.
BlueStater
(7,596 posts)I know the difference between "you're" and "your" and never confuse them with the exception of "you're welcome". This stems from the fact that I almost never actually see that phrase written down, only verbalized, so I'm never sure, in a situation where I should use it, whether I should say "you're welcome" or "your welcome".
Curmudgeoness
(18,219 posts)I really wasn't singling you out. Just anyone who might have that problem. You know, like Jindal.

maddiemom
(5,106 posts)I don't understand the fuss. Does it have to do with his cutting the education budget, then using "your" for "you're"??? As a retired English teacher, I've become exhausted by the national leaders who mix these up (both parties). There are at least a hundred such mixups with the pronunciation and misuse of words that I catch every week, just watching a few hours of TV in the evening. Otherwise, I'm going crazy trying to see what I missed. As far as I'm concerned, Jindal is an idiot. I just don't see what I missed.
