A burning question, on this chilly, snowy, pre-Super Bowl winter's morning!

Did last November's Gerry-rigged, corporate skewed, election, give Mitch "the turtle" McConnell and Jon "the boozer" Boner, those overinflated balls they have now, that has suddenly given them the idea that they alone are running our country?

Those two misleading scoundrels, seem to be laying every wild card that the GOP has been holding back for decades, on the table, at this juncture.

What do you get when you cross a Gerrymander with a rabid, lying, ass kissing Turtle? Fukt, by a cold blooded, corporate, Teabilly, congress!

out of power again in two years, so they're trying to accomplish the most evil they can in the meantime. If a Democrat gets elected President in 2016, Democrats will also likely regain majorities in the Senate, at least. They've got a lot to do before then to make sure the Democrats have a big mess to clean up when they come back into power.

I'm not so optimistic as you are about the '16 election. Throw in a corporate owned press and I'm almost certain that bad shit is going to happen long before the good comes by our way once again

I have to agree with your astute assessment. A cold blooded gerrymander has replaced the will of the people in our struggling DINO. ("democracy" in name only.)

...any attempt to moderate a candidacy especially a presidential one, is met with outrage by the rabid and bigoted republican voters who rule their primaries. We can already see Jeb and Mitch attempting to moderate their rhetoric to appeal to that center which determines presidential contests. That's not going to survive the crop of right-wing nutcases who will drive them to the extreme far right.

One thing about this last midterm to remember, madokie, is that those contests attract more disgruntled voters than they do those voting in favor of something or to express approval. The resentment on the right toward Pres. Obama has been unprecedented in its severity and scope and the outcome was predictable. Presidential contests are much different, and I agree with Luv that a Democratic leader will bring along a host of new and energized voters in these congressional elections motivated to put a lid on republican extremes which should turn the Senate, if not the House, as well.

2016 is not a lock and the Electoral College rules are attackable when SCOTUS has also been corrupted...

There is a lawless election landscape never before seen....all bets are off as to how this will turn out when fascists stalk democracy.

It is clear that the GOP will not play by any rules.

The parralells with 1930's Germany are all there except one.....the economy is too good and
Obama is too popular....as long as that stays...we got a good chance to keep the fascists outside the gate.

I think there is more good stuff to come than bad, the fascists have fallen short and this is their last, best chance....forever.

Stay vigilante, trust nothing in any any media owned by the right wing, including all of TV.

that if they only get their 'news' from the tv or our local paper they have no idea as to the state of our union. One has to go about news gathering as a job now. I remember when we used to have a somewhat functioning press but thats been 40 years ago.
Well you can't believe everything you read on the internet, I hear that quiet often and I remind them that you can pay attention to by who and not what is being said and if you do that the internet is a much closer to the facts source than the tv, radio or newpapers are.
Us dems have our work cut out for us thats for sure

The media is a No Go Zone for truth and priority of issues...look at this football thingy as the highly unpopular GOP Congress systemically dismantles your democracy and attacks a President easily many times more popular.

prompted my OP.

Meanwhile back at corporate capitol hill...the corporate based republican rats and their little blue doggie accomplices, are busy chewing away at the very foundation, that the founding fathers, so wisely, provided for our once flourishing and highly venerated, American democracy. Grover and friends, want to dissolve democracy and flush the stinking corpse down his bathtub drain. To make room for the new thousand year corporate states of America.

Sieg Heil, Herr Grover.

DU for an example of what you're saying. So many experts that I can't believe that we have any problems in this country at all. I mean with all the all knowing pro's and all. When you try to point out that air expands and contracts with heat and cold all you hear in return is cheaters.
I just checked the air pressure in my left front tire and its a tad under 34 psi. I'm going to be doing some driving today and that will warm that tire and its contents up and when I get back I'll check it again. Right now the air temperature out is 30 degrees.
Check back here in a few hours and I'll post what the air pressure in that tire is when I get back from my errands. I have no idea as to what it will be but the physics of it tells me the pressure will go up, how much I don't know. If I was to go out and turn my air compressor on and let it build up to full the little 2 gallon tanks air will be pretty damn warm in comparison to the air out side right at that moment. I can feel the hose connecting the compressor head to the tank and know that compressing that air warms it up, a bunch too btw.
Anyways all this I'm saying is in keeping with what the gist of our topic in this thread is.

Have a great day Fred

I forgot to check the tire pressure as soon as I got back. The truck has been setting 2 and 1/2 hours and I just now checked the same tire pressure. The temperature outside is 60 degrees and the tire pressure is 38 and a tad. So in thirty degrees ambient temperature rise the tires gained 4.5 degrees. grant you these tire are lot bigger than a foot ball but in a 30 degree temperatrue rise they gained 4.5 PSI

thus, only the politically awake people have this sinking feeling, even though we are being sold/spoon fed these stories of a robust rebounding economic vitality. But much of that rebound is based on the stock market that has proven to be an undependable, fragile bubble, filled with hot air/speculation and bullshit. The people who were so long out of work, have had to settle for half the money they brought home back in 2000, on their new jobs. Many of the people who are no longer on the unemployment roles, have long since exhausted their unemployment compensation insurance benefits and thus are no longer counted, in those posted unemployment figures we are fed.

People who are still aware of reality in the USA, can feel the undertow.

"The parallels with 1930's Germany, were fairly parallel with the MANY people in the 1930's USA.

When the worlds economic eggshell crumbled in the 1920's and 30's, the wolves at the doors took over in Germany and became very powerful in the USA. Those same types of wolves are as hungry as ever today, IMHO.

to "save" the country. I have no doubt they would have succeed if not for the economy being not too shabby and the one other thing.

The relentless calm of Obama.

I do not worry much about a total fascist take over, though it should not be dismissed, but they have failed...

What I worry about is all the damage they will cause as they go down kicking and screaming...look at the relationship with Israel already damaged by one fascist chess move.

it is the best fucking thing to happen to the NFL in a decade. Now they are all just milking it, and the media also appreciates the opportunity to distract the public as their democracy is dismantled from under their highly entertained noses.

Lot of milk givers in America, it is exceptional.

complete political meltdown of America and unforeseen consequences, is the Executive Branch still in the hands of Obama, the truth in liberal social media, and a strong economy.

So I am not a pessimist at all, it's a paradox for sure to have support Obama 100 % in these dangerous domestic political times, and then explain why I detest so many things he does not say or do..prosecution of war crimes, more aggressive Wall Street reform and gun control and election campaign reform, and now going to Saudi Arabia, just lately.

But if I can lay claim to being a paradox, I have to let Obama lay claim also. I have no choice but to be all in for Obama while holding my tongue on a short list of important issues not being resolved.
