Ben Carson: Gay Couples ‘Not That Smart’ Because Loving Christian Bakers Might Poison Wedding Cakes

http://www.addictinginfo.org/2015/01/26/ben-carson-gay-couples-not-that-smart-because-loving-christian-bakers-might-poison-wedding-cakes-video/

Ben Carson, who functions largely as the GOP’s Uncle Ruckus, is once again speaking out in favor of wanton discrimination. At Steve King’s gathering of the most deluded “minds” in politics, the Iowa Freedom Summit, Carson held a short press conference after his 20-minute deluded rant.

For most of the seven minutes, Carson railed against LGBT individuals’ demand for equal rights. Carson told members of the media that “a few judges” have overthrown the will of the people in 32 states where it was decided “that marriage is between a man and a woman.”...

“If two adults want to be together,” Carson said, “I’m not going to stop them from being together.” Carson suggested that equal marriage rights are not necessary because two people can take the very expensive route of setting up a “legal contract” so they can “share property and have visitation rights” or otherwise experience some benefits of marriage.

Carson says he does have a problem with good, pure, sweet, innocent Christian bakers being forced to make cakes for LGBT couples. In fact, those loving Christians might get so mad that they poison the cake, according to a man who wants to be President:

Well, someone's not that smart, and I don't think it's the gay couples.

How is it any different from police who want an app censored because it may lead to the killing of cops?

I suppose the cops are interested in self preservation, while suggesting that folks may use the app to kill cops. Carson is implanting the suggestion that baker's poison gay couple's cakes. So it would be more similar if Ben Carson is gay. Maybe he's more afraid and expressing self-preservational fear than advocating others commit a crime?

Is Ben Carson outing himself?

intelligent man. As a doctor he excelled in the highly specialized (and very chellenging) field of pediatric neurological surgery, being the first doctor in the U.S,. to separate twins conjoined at the head. All that intelligence, however seems to be compartmentalized and he suffers from an ill which seems to affect many physicians who believe themselves to be as superior in all areas as they are in medicine. Regarding politics he seems to bear a close resemblance to Herman Cain, being the new Uncle Ruckus for the Republicans longing to have a black man spouting their hateful rhetoric.

He is obviously a brilliant surgeon. From what I have read he did wonderful things for kids. It's just a shame that all that intelligence was subsumed by a religious belief that went to strange places.

No offense to anybody here who is an Adventist - just not a believer.

I have no doubt that he attained a high degree of knowledge and proficiency as a surgeon. I think as of the time he retired and probably now, he still retains the knowledge of how to perform in that profession.

But I also believe his mind ceased to be able to take in and evaluate new information of any kind of sophistication at least 10 years ago. I doubt he would be able to complete a graduate program of any kind at this point.

Tue Jan 27, 2015, 02:31 PM

Growing up, never heard the commandment to poison people with whom I disagree.

If Christians are out there poisoning people, then Christianity is a violent, brutal faith and no decent, rational person should want any part of it.

7th day adventists around here are fond of the rapture. They've been ready for years. Any minute now....

They are decent, helpful neighbors, keep their places tidy, and they always adopt an ever-so-slight condescension as their primary expression and affect. They are better than you are. By a long shot.

But I noticed something that troubled me. Loving neighbors and residents of Planet Earth plant flowers for their neighbors and for the bees and the butterflies.

Self-preserving people couldn't care less about pollinators or anyone's view. They hide in the woods and make sure they have smooth driveways and that nature is blown to smithereens if it encroaches on their bunkers.

The draw of their form of Christianity are the constant affirmations that they are superior people, that they are wiser than everyone else, and that they are gonna show us we were wrong any day now, by golly.

They are very devoted and invested in being "right." So "right," they will poison you for your own good. Just like they poison their children's minds by insisting on telling them that they have no future, that the rapture is imminent and is far more important to consider than planning a good life. I cant imagine being told as a child that the world is about to come to an end.

Having said that: Believe what you wish. Just don't come around asking me to buy it. If you don't worry about the suffering of people where you live right here, right now; and you don't care about bees or birds, you are just not that wise. And I doubt even your god is impressed.

perhaps a distinction needs to be made between the ability to acquire very specific knowledge and the ability to think about anything else! This affliction is rampant in religious communities. Carson is an exception only in that he acquired very specific knowledge beyond the bible or believing in trickle-down economics or the ideology in conservatism. It's the difference between thinking and believing. Unfortunately, most Americans believe in believing in things (no alternative to capitalism, positive psychology, etc.) which makes it easy for someone like Carson to sell his book and spread his pernicious gospel.

Some of those same people who hate same sex marriage also hate abortion enough to kill abortion providers. And the anti-same sex marriage people are likely to become more desperate as they lose on the issue.

Granted that's not an argument against same sex marriage or against the intelligence of the same sex couple as (unfortunately) often you can't tell who's a blithering idiot just by looking at them. Fortunately many of those blithering idiots prove it when they speak, for example, Ben Carson.

Better yet to just look for the rainbow flag on the door.
Now the casual way this creep comes across with this notion tells me he's likely to have dozens more zingers like this to appeal only to the most radical of his base. That makes me relax a bit, even in the face of the Kock's poised to spend a billion on misleading ads in '16.
