and what about older people, people with disabilities, people with medial emergencies, women expecting babies...who may have to get to a hospital in the middle of a blizzard?

have you been through a week with no power in the dead of winter?

people like you who blow very critical weather conditions off really are hardhearted...good grief!

I live on the prairies in the Midwest. You use your common sense. If there is a blizzard on the way, you stay off of the roads. You keep your pantry stocked all winter and have a supply of food that doesn't require cooking. You keep extra batteries and lanterns. You have plenty of blankets on hand if you don't have a fire place and can't use electricity. If you have a health conditions or may need emergency services, you have a plan for who to contact. Yes, I've been through blizzards, massive ice storms, tornados, and floods. You plan ahead for such times. The most important thing is that you stay off of the roads and you don't place others in harms way by ordering pizza.

Meanwhile, President Obama attended the Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi, India, the first American President to be bestowed India's highest honor to a foreign leader........attended by hundreds of thousands, watched by tens of millions of folks....but too far away for CNN to even mention...the news is just outside the front door today.

Yes, that is what passes for news.....give it a few minutes and move on, but instead they move their whole operation, the entire fucking operation, outside to cover a snow storm in
January....just fuck.

but I would have thought the east coast crowd would be much more blasé about a winter snow storm, even a large one. Yes, the govt agencies must be prudent, prepared and everyone should put safety first and see to the needs of people who need to be looked after, but why the panic?

I'm watching all these frantic reporters freaking out and hyping this storm like its some sort of doomsday scenario. They're brandishing yardsticks and calling in the camera for a close up shot of the scant inch on snow, and look over there, OMG, there's snow on street. Run for your lives, its "snowmageddon" time!

so the local reporters are acting just as melodramatic as the ones in NYC. True, I have little to no heartfelt sympathies for the histrionics of those man-on-the-street reporters who are documenting the storm snowflake by snowflake. Their daring do in standing on the curb at a busy intersection, the wind blowing their long locks away from that carefully planned, snow-kissed -- or moist and dewy, out here in sunny you know where -- closeup headshot is great theater, but not very helpful if someone actually wanted useful information.
