GOP Catastrophe in Virginia - Several Prez nominee hopefuls fail to make primary ballot.
http://www2.timesdispatch.com/news/2011/dec/22/bachmann-huntsman-santorum-not-on-va-primary-ballo-ar-1563033/
Bachmann, Huntsman and Santorum are out, Gingrich and Perry may have squeaked by but could be tripped up if enough of their signatures are invalidated (You need 10,000 valid signatures, it's suggested you get at least 15,000 to be sure, Gingrich and Perry both are in the 11,000's. Schadenfreude, I gots it! ROFLMAO ![]()

3. Wow....that's a pretty low bar. I'm not surprised about Huntsman, but Bachman and Santorum
I'd have thought could get enough. Wonder if they're getting the message?

5. Oh come on!
They're not even trying. Which ones are we supposed to be taking seriously, really? Because it's clear that few of them are truly serious. Shills, every one of them, except for Romney.
Yea, I'm stupid enough to believe it's incompetence, or that there aren't 15,000 voters to sign for them. Ri-i-ght. and I'm the Easter Bunny. |

But can I get some Lindt chocolates this year, instead of the Nestlé and Hershey crap? And some peeps for the microwave. |

11. Thank you for contacting me regarding your Easter candy preferences.
If you should receive a large basket of black licorice on Easter day, that would be from me. If supplies are limited, or if you particularly enjoy black licorice, horehound lozenges may be substituted without prior notification.
In addition, Lindt chocolates are not listed as a slave-free product on my Fair Trade list, so my answer would be, "Sorry, no." Please forward any further inquiries to PeterCottonTail@CandyRotsYourTeeth.org. Thank you for your continued patronage. Yours truly, The Easter Bunny |

8. The petition laws are ridiculous
NY has the same type of law. I think it's meant to protect the powerful from competition.

10. not this one
10,000 people in Virginia is 0.12% of the population - not an onerous barrier, especially given the number of people who will sign anything on a clipboard handed to them.

12. It's probably 10,000 registered republicans.
And each candidate probably needs to be the first to get a signature from the voter. Why can't it be 5,000 signatures or 2,500 signatures? It's intentional. In NY it's 15K signatures distributed through most of the congressional districts. McCain sued NY state over this in 2000 and won.

17. Well, This Certainly Gives Credence to Some of the Charges That, Um,
certain campaigns are being run as PR stunts, and that the candidates do not have a real political organization.
Looks like Virginians might be forced to vote of Romney after all. |
