to a politician it is free speech. But if I place a $50 dollar bill on the dash while talking to a Policeman that is a bribe. Can anyone explain to me the difference between the 2 situations?

I wish I had worded my response with that in it. Given the flood of hidden money that now controls American politics, money will surely drown out democracy if nothing is done about Citizens United v. FEC

A campaign contribution, at least a large one, isn't a gateway drug to a bribe.

A large campaign contribution is a bribe, no gateway needed.
