Right to Work is Wrong for Wisconsin: The Wreck of the Walker Fitzgerald (pic report from 2/25/15)

Tuesday and Wednesday marked new protests in Madison, Wisconsin as the Republican-controlled state government rammed Right-to-Work (for less) legislation down our throats.

Many unions were represented here this week, and the crowd numbers, while far below those of the 2011 protests, were still significant.

Songs were sung, prayers were led, speeches were given, and there were calls for a general strike.

We got support from our brothers south of the border, despite them having their own problems.

As always, Wisconsinites showed both creativity and political awareness in making protest signs.

4. A good % of the Union voted for Walker

Wonder if they regret that now.

5. I'm convinced this has been successful for one reason only: marketing.

"Right to work." Who doesn't want to work? And I'm hard pressed to think of any Democrats with broad, national exposure telling the sheeple "right to work" doesn't mean what they assume it does. Frank Luntz must have gotten a bonus for that bit of wordsmithing.

7. We need to start using a more honest term such as "Right to Fire"

Maybe others can come up with something better, but Democrats need to start using an honest term for these laws instead of allowing republicans to frame the discussion with their phony titles for laws that hurt workers.

10. "Right to Work for Less"

Is what we've called it in Indiana.

8. Looking like a lost cause as a solid Republican majority takes over,

and that's because union members are voting Republican. It's the only explanation.

But for these union people braving the cold to protest for all working people, I have nothing but love and admiration. Thank you for your excellent signs and perseverance in the face of the cowardly governor and legislature who only represent ALEC.
When will working Americans ever see the light?

12. No surprise at all, and as crooked as Walker and his cronies are

I believe there was plenty of voter fuckery going on. But the margins were pretty large. This, by no means, was a close election.

11. Well either no one gives a crap or there aren't enough voters...

I'd say Wisconsin is pretty much a wash. Walker has been able to do what ever he pleases so much so he keeps getting elected. Looks like Wisconsin is turning redder.
