http://boston.cbslocal.com/2015/02/26/nearly-frozen-waves-captured-on-camera-by-nantucket-photographer/But a photographer on Nantucket found something most of us have never seen nearly frozen waves.
Jonathan Nimerfroh was walking along a beach on the island recently when he saw these waves rolling in like slush.
The waves were semi-frozen because there was so much ice inside them.

(37,540 posts)It looks cool, but it is creating huge problems for ship navigation. You know harbor/ship lanes are a problem when this type of wave ice is present.

MOTHER NATURE IS WAAAAAAAAY BIGGER THAN WE ARE!!!! And it's not nice to mess with her. I don't even want to think of what she's capable of doing to us...

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/capital-weather-gang/wp/2015/02/23/extreme-february-cold-ices-over-most-of-chesapeake-bay-in-rare-event/
Ice covers vast expanses of the Chesapeake Bay likely more than at any time in years.
Most of the Bay is frozen, says Brian Jackson, an analyst at the National Ice Center. The coverage extent is way above normal.
Jackson says there arent good long-term records of Chesapeake Bay ice extent, but that this years levels are even more expansive than last years maximum reached at the end of January, which followed several outbreaks of bitter cold.

The waves frozen in time,
Like words when cold hard to rhyme,
But because it is ice you can suck it!

Who had a rep he could surf like a rocket
But his floatation device
Was hopeless on ice
So he laced up his skates saying #$%@ it!
