http://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/ineffective-speaker-finds-his-job-jeopardyHouse Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) agreed on Friday to appear on Face the Nation when he was confident his Homeland Security bill would pass. As he learned soon after, it didnt Boehners own members ignored him and killed his legislation making yesterdays interview on CBS a bit more awkward than the Speaker had hoped.
At one point, host John Dickerson asked Boehner whether he can still lead his party effectively on issues like immigration. I think so, the Speaker said....
In case its not obvious, becoming the first modern Speaker to be removed from office during the congressional session would, indeed, make Boehner historically significant.
To be sure, this isnt the first time the Speaker has been confronted with chatter about a coup from within his ranks. Boehner has failed, repeatedly and to his profound embarrassment, to get his members to follow his lead. The result is a weak, flailing Speaker with no accomplishments, no legislative prospects, limited credibility, and no meaningful plan to get his own members to listen to him.

I would shed no wine-flavored tears for Boner, save for the fact that his successor would likely be a T-bagger like Gomer.

I wonder if he hopes to move up; I would think he would be damaged goods at this point

(182,280 posts)1. How's that new Majority Whip working out for you Boehner?
You know, the young hot shot who spoke at the white supremacy convention?

But then again, the tea party republicans don't seem amenable to logic.

from House of Cards--courting mayhem to make others look incompetent while he gains more power.

........The Speaker of the House of Representatives is second in line for succession to the Presidency after the Vice-President!
That's scary enough with Boner; but, with a Tea-bagger sociopath, that's abso-frakkin'-lutely terrifying!!!!!

I think Boehner has survived much longer in a pit of venomous reptiles. I believe alcohol must have some anticoagulative properties.
