Burying the lead.

Interesting that Boehner would let the House approve a clean DHS bill today. Did he think the Bibi speech would overshadow that news? In reality, I think it just contributes to burying the Bibi speech in the day's news, which includes not only the cave on DHS funding, but the HRC email story and the Ferguson findings.

Each of these stories might have been the big news -- now to a certain extent they cancel each other out and everyone is left to wait for whatever the next story is.

I just saw a tiny line about it. At first I thought it was just an old story about the 1 week "patch" they passed on Friday, but then I saw that it was about the House today passing the Senate's long term bill funding DHS through September--without conditions. That is a huge cave.

Here's ABC's story title:

Congress Sends Homeland Bill to Obama Without Conditions
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory/homeland-funding-appears-track-minus-immigration-add-ons-29345768

But that story title would be identical for the 1 week "patch." Shouldn't the headline be "House Passes Homeland Funding Through September"? Or better yet, "House Caves on Homeland Funding."
